The only way to find out is to phone Amex and ask! Let us know what you find out.

Well, the page you linked to states that you must "purchase a full-fare, non-restrictive or an eligible ticket in specified classes" to take advantage of the offer, which would make me assume that a full-fare 'Y' class ticket would be required - certainly full-fare prices I've heard for the UK market will often be priced less than the usual promotional business class fare.

Anyone have any idea how much the full-Y class is, LAX to SYD or YYZ to SYD?

I think you will probably be looking at YA at 5804 USD (+ taxes).

But really and truly, the only way to find out is to phone Amex PTS and ask - their view of which fully flexible fare is eligible, and its cost, may differ from yours!
