I am going to Myrtle Beach area in a few weeks flying into Wilmington, NC. I am going to have 5 people including me in the car, luggage for a weeks vacation and 2 golf club bags. I am not sure what type of car I need for all of this? Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I would appreciate it.

Sounds like my last golf trip to Myrtle. We flew directly into MYR where Budget (and perhaps others) rent the Chevy Avalanche. I think that's the perfect golf trip vehicle. :)

But at Wilmington, I'm guessing Hertz and others are going to rent you the standard car types. Maybe look for the Ford Expedition or perhaps some sort of van.

If you're trying to go budget-conscious, you could probably get away with booking F and using an upgrade code to get a Crown Vic or Grand Marquis. Depends on whether you travel with the big hard-sided cases or something more squishable. And of course how much other luggage you have.

I've done four guys, four sets of sticks (soft cases), four small bags in a Crown Vic before on several occasions.

As hard as it is to believe, the Crown Vic is actually better for this sort of thing (for both the luggage and the guy who has to ride in the middle) than most of the standard SUV's.

This is one of the few cases in which you would want the Crown Vic/ Grand Marquis. Huge trunk, can seat up to six adults. (a Towncar will work as well)

He'll probably show up and see a G35 or Avalon sitting there.

They had a SUV rental so I booked that. What does Hertz usually have in this class (L class)? Also, any one have one at the ILM airport location? Would this suit the bill? Its 336/all in for the whole week.

I've seen mostly Explorers in the L class, but also seen Cherokees, Envoys, Trailblazers, Durangos

Although I don't recommend 3 adults in the back seat of any of those mentionned above (durango being the most comfortable for 3 in the back)

I'd stick to the CV/GM or TC/DTS

I'd stick with the CV/GM or TC/Caddy as well. The Explorers front and rear seats (exluding third row) have about as much room as a Taurus.

You could go to a car dealer and test fit the luggage and golf bags in various cars...

Safest choice would be a van.

They gave me a Freestar on my L class res. That worked out great.
