If you do training sessions, set up in conference rooms, trade shows, anything like that, this is a hard deal to pass up. Not wireless, but a 10/100 wired Netgear 5 port switch.
In store and by mail from compusa, through the end of the week.
Search their site for 294498
$34.99 with $27 of rebates.
Thanks for the great find! I just happen to need one of these, so I'll be picking one up a the local CompUSA tomorrow.

It's a switch then. Not a hub. :p (I wouldn't pay 8 cents for a 5 port hub. But if you don't mind rebates this is a good deal on a switch.)
Even more OT: at least it's not one of those dual-speed "switches" of a few years ago. Those things were basically a two-port switch with a 10 meg segment and a 100 meg segment, where each segment acted as a hub for that speed group. Yuck.

I duno...it is netgear, it may not auto-negotiate :D
At least they fixed their NAT issues....for a while you couldn't forward ports about 1024...D-Link still has that problem.

I've actually had more problems with higher end gear autonegotiating (e.g., Ciscos, especially some revs of FE blades in the 6500s) than with cheap switches. I once did a needed firmware upgrade on a 2924XL and all of a sudden a dozen Sun servers (not my choice!) went from properly autonegotiating to all having duplex mismatches, requiring locking down settings on BOTH ends to get things working right. (Always the right thing to do with permanently installed hardware of course, but this was equipment inherited from an acquisition...)
The recent cheap copper gig-e chipsets seem to autonegotiate quite well.

there is also a gige version for 15.00 AR, which might be better.
Rebates are awful. They take forever and much of the time you get denied anyway. Even Dell stopped using them since they upset people so much.
Why not just go to Newegg and buy a $10 switch instead? Less hassle.

Totally disagree. I don't have any rebate issues at all, and I can walk down the street, and have one of these in my hand in minutes.
There are times it makes sense to do mail order, and there are times it makes sense to have it in your hands in minutes.
I don't do business with CompUSA, their SF store is probably the worst electronics retail outlet in the city. High prices, no inventory, no assistance and long checkout lines. I won't even go there for the free stuff that is advertised - better just to buy cheap on ebay, craigslist or perhaps BB, CC or Frys.

CompUSA sucks.
CompUSA sucks.
Yeah, that pretty much sums up my experiences with them. Overpriced, poor rebate process, poor inventory (stuff is never in stock) and terribly uneducated staff make for a terrible experience. They are my absolute last resort if I can't be bothered to drive 30 minutes to Fry's or can't wait for it being shipped.
My money is on them being out of business within the year.

after all the problems with rebates in the past, getting slapped with a 25M judgement seems to have helped them. All my rebates in the past year have cleared and processed in about four weeks.
Since we're talking switches, any suggeestions on getting 12 ports of POE in a switch that's relatively small and that won't set me back $400? 10/100 is fine but such switches usually have gigabit as well. QOS wouldn't hurt either. Am I dreaming?
Oh -- I DESPISE rebates. What a total pain. Jumping through hoops for $10 at a time is not my idea of a good deal.
