Delta SkyMiles (Pre-WorldPerks Merger) - DL's SkyMiles service center efficiency!

OK I tend to rant about DL a lot lately. But there is one thing for which DL is doing it right for me. Here is the story, but it is not the first time I have had similar experiences.

Yesterday, after procrastinating for over two weeks, I decided to fax Delta SkyMiles service center the boarding passes and ticket stub for which I had not been credited. I did this at the end of my work and it was about 6pm or later Colorado time, thus 8pm Atlanta time.
I was expecting the miles to post sometime this week, as I know that they do not let things pile up.

Well by 11pm Colorado time, when I was checking my balance while chatting with a friend, I saw that the miles had posted! Including miles for 2 flights for which I had not kept the BPs but that were on the ticket stub.
Note that all my flights were on AZ!

Job well done, DL! ^

Good friends of mine are still waiting for DL to credit flights on Emirates that were flown in January. So YMMV.

It took 3-4 days for the KE operated codeshare flights to be posted after I faxed my BPs last week.

For the KE operated codeshare, you do not need to fax BPs. Simply fill out the online form. (https://www.delta.com/skymiles/manage_account/request_mileage_credit/index.jsp) Previous cases of KE operated codeshares have all showed up on my account within 24h.
The link is not obvious to find, thus I hope this post will help people find it.

Are they PM? Before faxing, I called SMS to get the fax number and was given the "Medallion" fax number. But then when writing the fax, I found the last one I had sent and it had a different fax number which I was told was for PMs only. I cannot say anything psitive or negative about the general fax number.

I think the link would be helpful for DL with BP while you were fly out. If you use with KE operated codeshares should have all showed up your account within more than 24 or 48 hours during after the flight. Next time please do put your skymiles # on your boarding pass before you purchase the ticket when you are travel out from USA.

Sorry to spoil the party, but I think SMS (if it even really exists (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showpost.php?p=6082289&postcount=27) outside of our imaginations) is way overrated. Robert Leach is the only member who has been over to the dark side and still disagrees with me.

I don't base my high regard for SMS on the anecdotes of others, but on my own personal experience. Furthermore, I have no basis of comparison with the Gods on the AA EXP desk, but the SMS agents are certainly above and beyond in my book. In all the years I've been phoning that number, I really don't have a single complaint.

There are cases when you end up having flights not posting for a reason or another. Computer glitch or as in my case, a hand-written boarding pass due to a failure of the Narita express whch made me arrive late at the airport.
In such cases, the above link is very helpful.

I did not say SMS was great. I said the SkyMiles service center did something right.

So, what is SMS supposed to do for me that they don't? They have always bent over backwards for me. I have probably talked to them 100 times over the years. Do you get a free Hershey bar for calling AA?

Yeah, why you don't take taxi or bus will give you a travel voucher go there to NRT next time. If you get save money less wait time on the train from downtown Tokyo. You should go to airport more than 3 or 4 hours earlier to prior before the flight to USA.

And your taxi may get in a trafic jam and you may get late. But it is really not the point. The point was that having your SM number on file or even on your BP is no guarantee your miles will make it to your account.

I can say it on occasions :) But I like to point out to the AAgitator that he should first read what I wrote, not what he imagined I wrote! :p

Yeah, do you think will take on the trains from downtown NRT to NRT airport is much better than wait time to try get there to airport. The point would be good for safer than too many traffic jam with lot of taxi or buses.

Mr. Tb and I have had several instances where miles were not credited even though our SM numbers were on the boarding passes.

My favorite is, having just arrived on DL flight from CDG, when I went to check in for my ATL-home flight, and the GA said, oh, I show you as having missed the CDG-ATL flight. Needless to say, those miles didn't show up until I called SMS the next day. On the other hand, I didn't even have to send copies of the BP, the agent just immediately credited my account. I guess that was during a period when there were above-average numbers of foulups during check-in at CDG.

Don't let the AAgitators get to you! ;)Sorry, I was frustrated because of an especially annoying experience with SMS today, which made me question whether a dedicated SMS desk truly exists or, as TXTBIRD13 claims in this post (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showpost.php?p=6081739&postcount=24), it's a figment of our imagination. I'd really like to know the answer.

What period was that? 1995-2006? :D

I waited til May to request credit for a R/T from JFK to MAD/BCN on Air France around the New Year, where I had only been credited for one of four legs. The miles posted to my account in less than 24 hours. I was impressed.
