Hi,

I'm in San Francisco trying to find the cheapest ticket possible from SFO to EZE in Buenos Aires, any suggestions? Does anyone know anything about standby tickets in SFO to EZE, how I would go about finding out about them and if they would be cheaper or not than other fares? Thanks. If you want to reply to me directly you can send an email to lahunahau@yahoo.com. I'm new to this board...

Thank you,

Lahunahau

Welcome to FT!

Stand by is typically only offered if you have a confirmed ticket, and you are trying to change your departure to an earlier/later flight on the same day of travel. So it's not a method of obtaining a cheaper fare.

If you post what you've found so far in terms of flights and prices you may get more suggestions from the board about where else to look.

It will also be helpful if you include your travel dates, whether the dates are flexible, and if you have any preferences of airline or alliance.

Welcome to FT Lahunahau !

First thing I would suggest is to remove your email address from your post (you can edit it) because there are robots all over the internet that harvest email addys just so they can send out spam :(

Second thing, we generally poo - poo the idea of sending email, because others will not benefit from the advice. And of course, when someone sees what has been posted they are often inspired to add information or it may trigger another idea.

My suggestion would be to look at fares from MIA, because that is a very competetive gateway to Latin America, and you can often get cheap transcon tickets to get there.

And I agree with schmare, standy isn't really done anymore. In fact I think it's pretty much been gone for years here in the States.

Unfortunatelly flying to South America is one of the most expensive tickets per mile - about the same distance as Europe, but you NEVER see tickets for $300-400.

First welcome to the board.

Second, I'm suprised the mod didn't say it, but this does sound like a fare request. Please read the sticky on the top of the forum. Please note that Flyertalk is not a travel agency.

I would try calling some latin travel agents as they often find cheap fares as they do have better access than many FT's.

Regards.
