American Express Membership Rewards - Transfer Points

I have a Membership Rewards account and my father wants to give me some of his points so I can use them towards a purchase of a future flight. How do I go about doing this?

When I transfer point I just call the customer service number and ask them to transfer the points. One time I had to put the person on the phone that was recieving the points, and once the CS person said they could only do it "this one time" because the cards weren't "linked", but I've always been successful in the end.
