Air Canada Aeroplan - Maple Leaf Lounge (MLL) Flight Announcements

Just a question:
"Why doesn't AC announce 'significant' arrival and departure times for the MLL PAX crowd.
After all, we all register with the lounge so the staff should, in my opinion, announce 'times' for PAX.
BTW, for all the noise and disruptions in the lounge(s) these days, what's the problem with a bit more noice polution, if it helps the PAX.
ADVICE?

Others might need help but I have always been able to use that thing on my wrist to figure out when I am supposed to go the gate.
If I get there and there is a delay I stand around and wait for bit, no biggie :)

I would prefer they keep the flight messages off the PA.Initially,IMO,people may pay attention.Like the safety videos on a/c,people will generally start to tune out after a short time.(you ever look around to see who is watching or paying attention to the film or demonstration?) ;)

I have on accasion asked them to at least announce delayed flight departures
when the delay was not yet posted - sometimes they have done so, other times
not.
I think they should at least revised departure times for delays.
It would be nice to know when flights are available for boarding as well.
The new boarding times shown on the boarding passes are, I think, 35 minutes
before schedule. But for domestic flights, I find that they are usually only available
for boarding 15-20 minutes before.
I hate those wasted 10-15 minutes in the boarding area when I could have
continued working in the lounge.

Huh - is anyone supposed to watch those? I thought they were like
boarding music - just background noise meant to drown out other
going ons....

Continued working. Yes. Me too.
I vote NO to MLL flight announcements in general. Too disruptive.

I always pay attention. If others don't want to, fine.
It really bothers me when people continue their loud conversations during the announcement. Is it not possible that they are sitting near someone who has never been on that or any type of aircraft before and is interested in what the safety announcements have to say?

:D
It doesn't really bother me either way. I know what time I have to be at the gate, but it wouldn't hurt to announce any delays.

A way to implement this would be to hand out pagers like they do at restaurants in the US when waiting for a table. If your pager goes off - your flight is ready.
What I would settle for is accurate information in the MLL about what is going on at the gate. It is a little annoying to pack up and leave the MLL for the gate only to find your flight is delayed 20 mins.

Keep the announcements to a minimum. I know when I shoud be at the gate.

You have this thing about how crowded and disrupted the MLLs are, and I have seldom found them this way. They should be a refuge from the husstle and busstle of the airport...and thus not subject to flight announcements every two or three minutes. At a terminal like YYZ, YVR or YUL there would seldom be a moment of silence if all flights were announced.
At smaller stations, such annoucements are occasionally made, as they are at larger ones if flights are delayed, etc. But it is up to the traveller to keep track of the time. Let's cut the clutter for something not needed.

One of the reasons I go to the MLL is to get away from that noise.

I go to the MLL so I can listen to other people talk on their cell phones. ;)

OMG! Are You Kidding!
What I crave more than ANYTHING is peace and quiet. Noise polution is so tiring, and after a flight on which the PA goes non-stop in two languages (three on Asian flights), the last thing I need are flight announcements every 2 minutes at peak. Not to mention the MLL lounges are already too noisy YYZ is a noisy echo chamber of a barn, YVR transborder is just a mezzanine, etc.
No, NO a thousand times NO. Please!

My only comment is that at the YVR int'l lounge, when they make announcements for signifigant flights, I find it helpful.
But I would be against it in domestic MLL's due to the larger flight loads/freq

So does that mean you also miss the tour group leader with her umbrella held high to have everyone gather around her. Herd mentality must be ingrained.

Sorry, I don't do Group Tours of any stripe, only enjoy the spoils from them! :D
the flight monitors in the MLL exist for a reason...
