How does the ticket validity work for award tickets?

Is it 1 year from date of ticketing or 1 year from date of 1st departure?

Are date changes actually possible... Is it a case of scouring for availability and then talking to the friendly folks at the AM desk to rebook?

Not sure on the validity. For date changes it depends on the carriers. If it's all on CX then no problem at all. If on other carriers then it can be difficult or impossible - I seem to remember that on BA once ticketed it's "use it (as ticketed) or lose it".

i had one last year.... BA ticket from AM. No problem on changing dates. 1 year from date of issue. But I'm still waiting for the airport tax refund tho cuz i havent used the ticket after time ran out:S

Just confirming the second post... I booked a ticket HKG-TPE-HKG with my CX miles. If I want to change the date of the TPE-HKG return portion, assuming that seats from the award bucket are available, Asiamiles will let me make the change?

but I think AM can not refund the miles right?
