American Express Membership Rewards - Max miles for AMEX.

Hi,
I've been reading over this forum and just had a question I wanted cleared up.
From what I can tell the best way to maxmize miles is the AMEX Gold Reward Plus because they've been offering double mile promotions every month through the links found here. Is that correct? I just got one of these since they offered me 50K after I spent $1000. So far I signed up for the may, june and the july, august promotion and I qualified for it.
The Starwood Card gives a 1.25 ratio and since the annual fee is only $30 it's a better deal if the Gold doesn't offer double points.
Am I getting this right? Is there any other AMEX that can give more points?
Thanks
Alex

You got a great deal. Can you please let me know how I can get the same 50,000 point offer?

Thanks for the replies,
Yes, I believe that the 50K bonus is for new customers and targeted, it was discussed here another forum. When I first got it in the mail, I threw it out because I never wanted an Amex but after reading here about how it was at least a $500 gift certificate, I called them up and they looked up my address and name since I lost the invitation code. There seems to be many offers going around because I got 3 different offers within a 2 month period. There's the 50K with $1000 spent, also the 25K with $1000 spent, and the normal one. I got sent mailers for all 3 because I have not opted-out of promotional mailers on my credit report.
I might just build up enough points for a free international biz class ticket and bail from AMEX Gold, the annual fee is $150 and not many places I go take AMEX, I hate having 2 credit card bills to pay and go over.

<<not many places I go take AMEX>>
This would seem to make comparison between Rewards Plus Gold and Starwood moot?
More imporant than 2+ versus 1.25 points per dollar is how the points can be used. Membership Rewards is currently a better deal provided you want to fly on one of its partner airlines. Starwood and Diners Club have a much wider range of redemption partners.

THATS IT!!! That is why I am not getting the AMEX offers. Now, how do I get off the Opt Out list?

Wrong on the opt out thing. Plenty of us are not opted out, and we don't get them.
