Sixt - What good is Sixt Gold??

I applied for instant Gold as Hilton Honors gold as I frequently rent in Italy.
I got an email showing new status and Number.

However if i ignore the number and status the rental via internet is much cheaper than if I do so with the discount as a Sixt Gold.

That's the way it goes... With your Sixt Gold card you'll get discount (I guess 25%) on all discountable rates! Internet rates are not discountable as they are till discounted compared to the "normal" prices. If you log in on the sixt website using our Sixt number you'll see the fixed prices you'll get using your Sixt card. This prices are guaranteed and you'll get this prices every time even I you just rent at the station without a reservation. The prices in the internet can differ from the fixed prices. If you are able to book some time in advance (~2 weeks before rental) the internet rates tend to be cheaper than you gold rate. Sometimes internet rates are even cheaper than my Plat rates which gives me 35% discount.

So always check both options before booking!

I would ask, you may get an upgrade. Once I had reserve a Sixti (the low cost 'branch') car. Still, the reservation was on my (Platinum-) account. Why? Sixt checks the credit card #.

BTW, Sixt is very expensive in Italy! :mad: I mostly end up with AVIS and German resident ;) That can become a problem, when you rent a de luxe car, Avis checks your address.

Yes, I made the same experience. You can call with a cell phone as well. But you can't use a callbox at least in germany. I tried this some weeks ago at FRA on a trip to TXL and it didn't work :td: So I used my cell phone and no problem here.
