California - SAN to Petco Park with a stop at the Marriott Gaslamp?

I just booked flight that gets into SAN at 11:52 am on 8/17 and Padres games starts at 12:35pm. Assuming the flight is on-time (of course I'm not checking anything in) is it reasonable to make to the Marriott Gaslamp (right next to Petco) drop off the suitcase with the concierge and walk across the street and into the game? Will there be (a lot of) traffic around the stadium? Sorry but Kenmore Square near Fenway would be a mess, even for a day game, and a taxi would likely get stuck in traffic a few blocks away.
If I miss an inning or two no biggie
A taxi to the hotel? Should be fine.

the flight leaves BOS at 6am - it's possible to get a 5:30am (yuck) with a real tight connection to make it there much earlier. So waking up another 1/2 earlier and risking the half hour connection at CVG (probably not a big deal unless running late).

No problem. If you're on time, you won't miss more than 1 inning, if that.

looks like the friendly members of FlyerTalk can be of some help here.
I have a suggestion and hope that it makes since. I'm not sure that OMNI is the best forum for this question and thought if you don't mind that i would move it to a more familiar area on FlyerTalk and that is within the Dining & Travel forums, specifically that of the California destination forum. Thanks for understanding and like the others hope you won't miss more than the first inning. Wonderful park in a great area.
Enjoy the game.

:D A rare time indeed when a thread is off-topic for OMNI!!
I thought of this earlier with our Enterprise Rent-a-Car thread. It was dangerously travel-related. I should probably go over there and post my opinion about the political positions that Enterprise supports.
Ya know...just to keep it OMNI... ;)

I win! I have had a thread bumped from OMNI because of relevance!
Anyway, do you think I'll still be able to make it to Petco after leaving SAN at 11:52 and checking into the mariott gaslamp and then walking across the street by 12:35? Should I take an earlier flight (5:30 am as opposed to 6:00 am) to avoid this?

Everything would have to fall into place perfectly for you to make it from the plane to the game in 40 minutes. Downtown San Diego is certainly very close to the airport - but I've been delayed occasionally on arrival because a gate isn't open. If you don't mind missing the first inning, then you can risk it - and might well walk in on time. But if it is important to you, I'd take the earlier flight. 6am is already so early, what's another half hour - sleep on the plane coming out.
Or pray for a good tailwind - I got in 45 minutes early one time!
