Row one on the 333, am I right to believe that that is a sleeper seat across the fleet?
The reason I'm asking...I just booked an award Envoy ticket, and the website let be reserve row 1 both ways (CLT-FRA). Earlier posting on the board seemed to indicate that seat had to be purchased. Maybe there are different rules for award flights, but the website clearly offered those seats for reservation. The whole row was empty, too.

I believe the A330-300 is still a sleeper seat in row 1 across the fleet (and seatguru still lists them that way).
I recently had a similar experience, booking travel from CLT-LGW in Envoy. The system showed row 1 open and allowed me to pick my seat there. However, when I completed my booking, the system had moved me back to row 7. It seems the booking system knows I can't have row 1 for free, but the website isn't quite as smart.

Yes it still is the sleeper seats and I think its available to those that book up until sometime in September. After that I think as part of the GoEnvoy program its a $300 or similar charge to anyone that wants to upgrade.

I made the reservation yesterday, and just checked it again, and it still has me down in 1 both directions.

Well, double-check it before you leave. I had 1A and aB for me and my girlfriend PHL-CDG a few weeks ago, and we were also moved to row 7. It had nothing to do with status/GoEnovy - just that we were bumped for an air marshall. If I were you I'd stay away from 1A and 1B and try to book 1G and 1H.

I'm 1A outbound and 1H inbound. But thanks for the tip on the FAMs. Thats a good point. I would think they'd be in the aisle seats for quick response.

FAM's were 1B and 1G on my trips to/fro CDG recently. So if you're travelling with someone, neither side is "safe." I had booked 1A, B both ways, and got moved from them shortly before each flight.

I support the idea of FAMs, but they are not going to be sleeping on a flight (hopefully), so what sense does it make for them to have a full 'sleeper' seat.

Can those in the know confirm if 1C is considered safe from being bumped for a FAM? This is my last hurrah on US across the pond on the 330 and I'd rather avoid being bumped. TIA

I agree.. they're not supposed to be sleeping, otherwise why are they there...?
I can only assume they bumped pax from these seats because they are nearest the cockpit door.

An important update I think. FAM's by policy never sit in window seats. And, by policy, they never sit next to each other unless it is across an aisle from each other.
Through the CP desk I just booke travel (within the last 2 weeks) to LGW and FRA. The CP desk booked me into Row 1 on an A333 (1 paid ticket and 1 DM ticket) for trips after November 1. They both told me that they were putting a note in the PNR making it clear that there would be no additional charge at check in and that I would be bumped for no person. I suggest everyone do the same.

Thanks Warbo.
Is that a fully flat seat, or more like the LH 'lie at an angle' seat that they've got in Business? I've never seen a picture of the seat.

To be considered first class on trans-continental flights, the seat has to be able to recline to a sleeper position. Otherwise, it would be business class.

Do yourself a favor--book a J award ticket on another star alliance partner. US Envoy is a joke and pales in comparison to any other transatlantic airline. I've done it twice (row 1) and vow to never fly it again. :td:
