American Express Membership Rewards - Question re:Transfer of points to Starwood

Apologies in advance if this question has been answered elsewhere. I would like to know if the following scenario is possible.

My goal is to transfer points from MR into AA Advantage. I know this can be done with the SPG Amex and also gain the 25% bonus every 20,000 miles. Is it also possible to transfer from MR into SPG and then to AA? If this is possible, then would I still get the bonus?

I currently have Amex Platinum (with many MR miles)and just signed up for Amex SPG (thank you flyertalk) but with a much lower credit limit than I really need. I could work around this by making regular online payments. By the way, what type of credit limits have others been allocated for the SPG Amex?
I was given $35000.

It's not worth it. You're probably trying to make that Million Miler number but if you're going to transfer to AA from MR, wait until they run an offer for a better SPG rate. Earlier in the year they had a 1:2 or 2:3 ratio.

As far as SPG credit limits go, Amex doesn't like to give uber-high credit limits on their "Optima" products. One way around this is to apply for and get other optima products such as the delta skymiles card (no-fee and 17500 bonus miles), etc and then move the limits onto your SPG card. I have done this to increase my SPG credit line. They have a nice online tool to do this. The other thing you can do is request a CLI--if they like you enough, they'll give you one online without doing a hard inquiry on your credit report. Most likely, you'll have to apply for it.

The best promotional ratio I have ever seen is 2:1, an improvement over the standard 3:1.

At the current exchange rate, you'd need 60k amex to get 25k american. With the 2:1 promotion mentioned earlier, it would only have been 40k.

The best thing would be to try to trade with someone who has aadvantage miles and wants amex miles. You should be able to do something more attractive than the 60k cost of using the direct route.
