Is anyone else having difficulty with the AC web site today? I'm finding it either extremely slow or crashing and five minutes or more.
Air Canada Aeroplan - AC Web Site is Slow and UnpredictableView Full Version : AC Web Site is Slow and Unpredictable Cam Jul 12, 06, 2:34 pm Is anyone else having difficulty with the AC web site today? I'm finding it either extremely slow or crashing and five minutes or more. ProudWings Jul 12, 06, 3:05 pm Yes, I've been trying to book flights for over an hour and it either crashes or "times out" very frustrating acysb87 Jul 12, 06, 3:36 pm Agreed.Tried booking flights today, took too long and will try tomorrow. back seat Jul 12, 06, 3:56 pm I can't book tickets either? I wonder if this is due to the bad weather in YYZ (i.e. people needing to change travel plans). Peter N-H Jul 12, 06, 9:45 pm I haven't been able to book for more than a week. Every single time, having selected the preferred outbound flight and clicked 'continue', most of the data vanishes and the site hangs. Do anything at that point, even just close the window, and the browser crashes. That's using Safari. Using IE the browser just crashes by itself at that point. Tried phoning the technical trouble hotline, but I might as well have saved my breath. 20 minutes of scripted responses indicating that it must be all my fault. Peter N-H Rejuvenated Jul 12, 06, 10:00 pm Working fine with me using FF. airbus320 Jul 17, 06, 9:58 am aircanada.com very slow loading this am. Anyone else? PreferBulkhead Jul 17, 06, 10:26 am Not here ... loaded quickly and navigation is quick - using FF with NoScript and AdBlockPlus. Shareholder Jul 17, 06, 10:26 am It seems they did some "upgrading" over the weekend. I tried to check some fares to Europe and noticed the initial booking section looked slightly different. Putting in the usual origin/destination codes and my dates, I found that I could not get the "search" button to work. Must mean the site is no longer OS9 compatible... antirealist Jul 17, 06, 10:35 am Must mean the site is no longer OS9 compatible... It's no longer functional with Safari under OS X either. Still works with Firefox though. airbus320 Jul 17, 06, 10:37 am My problem is that I can't get the sign in feature to load. I just tried with another computer and using another ISP. Same result PreferBulkhead Jul 17, 06, 10:52 am Ah! Specifics! ;) I rarely ever log in -- and yes I am now seeing the same issue you are -- it never comes back when I try to log in... eventually times out with a Server Error message. airbus320 Jul 17, 06, 10:55 am Ah! Specifics! ;) I rarely ever log in -- and yes I am now seeing the same issue you are -- it never comes back when I try to log in... eventually times out with a Server Error message. I phoned Tech Assistance and got the often mentionned offshore call centre. They did admit that they have a problem. The solution: Try logging in later..... ....at least I did not get the delete cookies remedy. PreferBulkhead Jul 17, 06, 10:58 am They did admit that they have a problem. ... with the system or the call centre! :p ....at least I did not get the delete cookies remedy. ;) I thought Parnel was taking care of the cookies ;) DWM_AC Jul 17, 06, 11:04 am Trying to access the car rental page - won't open. PreferBulkhead Jul 17, 06, 11:09 am Sounds like another successful s/w upgrade, at least from the Mac perspective! ;) ulyparis Jul 17, 06, 11:24 am Trying to access the car rental page - won't open. Out of curiosity, are there many people using AC website for car rental or hotel? It never passed though my mind. May be the day AC.com sells ALL flights and not only AC or AC codeshare then I will imagine them as a web TA. Peter N-H Jul 17, 06, 11:37 am It's no longer functional with Safari under OS X either. Still works with Firefox though. I mentioned this rather higher up the thread (and on others). Calling tech support produced someone who clearly didn't have much of a clue, tried to blame the OS, and then tried to blame the firewall. The site crashes Safari when trying to move from one screen to another partway through the booking process, and makes Internet Explorer crash all by itself. It occurred to me yesterday, too, to download Firefox: just to book an air ticket. I wonder how many other people will bother. What kind of service is this? Peter N-H airbus320 Jul 17, 06, 11:40 am I just logged in successfully to my account and accessed my flight pass for a booking. It seems to work now for me. PreferBulkhead Jul 17, 06, 11:43 am Well yes - I too can login as airbus320 and access his flight pass :) Just kidding ... I can also log in now ... any Mac users?? antirealist Jul 17, 06, 11:50 am Safari seems to work again now. Peter N-H Jul 17, 06, 11:57 am Safari seems to work again now. Did you go right through the booking process? Still crashes this Safari (OS 10.4 latest upgrade on PPC) partway through. antirealist Jul 17, 06, 12:10 pm I didn't go as far as completing a purchase, but I went beyond the point Safari borked at previously. I noticed yesterday that the outbound and return schedules for a round trip were on separate pages - that was new. Moving from outbound to return brought up a partially blank page, and reloading the page crashed Safari altogether (it worked fine in Firefox). Now the outbound and return schedules are back on the same page again, and I can select the flights and move to the summary page. Are you crashing at an earlier or later point? Peter N-H Jul 17, 06, 12:15 pm I noticed yesterday that the outbound and return schedules for a round trip were on separate pages - that was new. Now the outbound and return schedules are back on the same page again, and I can select the flights and move to the summary page. Are you crashing at an earlier or later point? My outbound and return schedules are still on different pages, and I'm experiencing exactly the same situation you describe. Now, AC, if you actually read this, Antirealist has identified the exact point of the problem for you: When schedules are spread over two screens rather then one the problem occurs. When outbound and return are on a single page, it doesn't. Now after a couple of weeks or more of waiting, how about doing something about it? yyznomad Jul 17, 06, 1:27 pm Now after a couple of weeks or more of waiting, how about doing something about it? Do pigs fly? Is the fat lady singing? Have the cows come home? AC is a good airline, but its stuff like their IT that blows chunks. (oh yeah, and AE's website is pretty low on the food chain too). :) PreferBulkhead Jul 17, 06, 1:34 pm Do pigs get fried? Is the lady drinking? Have the cows come home? !!!
