I am visiting friends who live near Pau, France. There is a LCC, Ryannair which flies from London Stansted. But unfortunately I will be in Copenhagen. I am trying to see what my options are if I am to fly from CPH to either PUF (Pau) or TLS (Toulouse) other than backtracking and connecting at STN (Stansted).

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thank you... my knowledge of LCCs within Europe is nil.

:)

Edited: I found one other, Transavia from AMS but the connection at AMS requires an overnight!

The most useful site I've found for LCC routes in Europe (in particular) is www.skyscanner.net - though it does look as though the options for your trip are limited.

Thank you. The above site is actually in connection with the transavair site.

First up - can't see any direct flights from CPH to TLS or PUF - either traditional carriers (which would have to be SAS or Air France for this I would think) or low cost carriers.

So you are going to have to go via a hub elsewhere.

For Toulouse this is likely to be:

Gatwick (for BA or Easyjet)
Paris (Air France or Easyjet)
Amsterdam (KLM)
Frankfurt (Lufthansa)
Brussels (Sabena)

For Pau, this is likely to be:

Stansted (Ryanair)
Paris (Air France)

your chances of a good connection are I would think a lot higher to TLS!

trying random dates outbound mid-July, return mid-August into Expedia gives Sabena at £166 return, Alitalia at £180 return (though this would be out of the way) and Air France at £200 return - these all seem quite reasonable to me.

you may be able to get a cheap fare to Pau, combining Ryanair tickets - my quick look suggested it might be around £140 return (but I didn't check that the flight times allowed connections). My issue with this is the risk if things go wrong - I'd personally feel a lot more comfortable paying more and putting that risk on the airline!

I wouldn't consider Stansted backtracking in the scheme of things!

Also, don't just concentrate on the LCCs - the traditional players are quite often very competitive, especially when a hub change is involved!

Careful when using connections on European LCCs.

Some - like Air Berlin - sell connecting itineraries.

Others - like Ryanair - actually state in their T&Cs that all their flights are point to point and that you must not book connecting itineraries. If you ignore this advice you're on your own - there is no through check-in for either passengers or baggage, and if your first flight is delayed they won't rebook you on a later flight for the second leg. Having said that, Ryanair's punctuality record is quite good, so as long as you leave plenty of time (I'd leave a minimum of three hours at STN) you stand a reasonable chance of making it.

BMI fly Manchester to Toulouse for about £60. Don't know how cheap a ticket on SAS to Manchester would be though.
