Hertz - newbire question: best strategy for weekly rental in Hawaii?

We'll be spending a week in Hawaii in August but the only hitch is that we'll be in two places: Kauai and Maui. Any strategies for getting the best rate? Anyway to combine two pickups on a single reservation, for instance, in order to take advantage of a weekly rate? Just brainstorming here.. thanks!

If you figure out how to drive between Kauai and Maui, then yeah, they'll give you one weekly rate. I'd hate to see the drop fee on that one! :D

Seriously, the best you can do is try to get weekend rates on both, although I'm not really up on Hawaii rentals and for all I know it matters less there. (Are midweek 3-4 days priced high like on mainland? I dunno.) If you're really staying just 7 days, you'll probably only be able to get one as a weekend. To get weekend rates you'll have to pick up usually sometime between noon Thurs and pretty much anytime on Sat, then return usually by Mon.

If Hertz still had Pontiac Azteks in the fleet, I'm pretty sure they could float.
