Are bonuses common for DL?

There seem to be 3-4 a year, they are targeted, I have got the bonus all but one time whether I was targeted or not. Someone will post a link here to register then you do the transfer and the bonus shows up 6-8 weeks after the promotion ends. Last year there was a 35% bonus, and I transferred 140k miles to get our tickets to MAUI, it worked out nice I got 4 tickets from Atlanta to Maui for 35K each (which is a miracle itself) then a bonus of 47250 miles.

It starts in 4 days. Why can't they have bonuses for Aeroplan or maybe ANA? :( (Anybody ever seen them?)

"Fees:
Cardmembers transferring Membership Rewards points to U.S.-based airlines will be charged a fee of $.0004 per point, up to $50. This charge is to offset the excise taxes American Express currently pays to the government for such transactions."

What the heck?? Since when???

I was looking at the skymiles site and see that you can transfer hotel points to skymiles but didnt see anything about transfering skymiles to hotel points. Is this something that can be done? Im leaving for greece for about 2 weeks in a couple days and prob wont be taking another trip for a few months. Should I transfer my points now anyway(about 65k) or wait for the next promotion?

Very helpful site! However skymiles are not an option in the convert from box and when I try find top up options if i try SPG and HH skymiles also dont come up there. Can I assume that miles cant be transfered into HH or SPG?

Not with Delta Skymiles. They can not be converted to hotel points.

Was anyone that was NOT targetted for the promotion link listed above able to successfully use it?

I used the Delta bonus last year, booked a flight to Hawaii on Continental through Delta and used the points. I'm assuming this is what you mean. If not, I apologize.

Not targeted and it took two or three attempts but the site eventually accepted registration.

Cheers

I was able to sign up for the bonus also, although not targetted. I was curious if anyone that was not targetted was actually able to get the bonus posted.

I am curious on this too! I'm looking to book a DL domestic first and with this promo i can get it for 36k.
Also, Does Delta give the 1000 miles for booking your award ticket online AFTER the fact? Virgin does the discount before you purchase the ticket...

e.g. i have 0 miles in my SM account; can i transfer only 35,000 instead of 36k to purchase my ticket?

Nope. Additional 25% bonus *may* be somewhat delayed, so don't count on it to book an award ticket.

DL 1K bonus is after the fact, and may take some weeks to show up. Don't count on it to book an award ticket.

Hi,

Just signed up although not targetted and wondering if anyone has received the e-coupon promised in the promo? If not, when should we expect to receive this? Thanks.

Well, I just signed up a test transfer of 10k points. I'll update if I have a positive result.

On a different note, is it possible to transfer points to someone else's delta account other than your own?

Only if they also have an additional Amex card linked to your own account.

Delta and Continental and Northwest are all members of the Skyteam alliance, which means you can use skymiles to book rewards on CO and NW. Transfer with the bonus and then book CO rewards through the skymiles rewards desk.

Just checking to see if anyone who registered (but who wasn't targeted) and transferred points actually got the bonus....? haven't seen anyone update with results on this and would love to transfer before the Aug. 15th deadline..

I would also like to know whether anyone non-targeted has gotten the bonus just by registering and transferring the miles??

Also, can this offer for 20% more miles be combined with the silver status offer for transferring 100,000 or more MR points for DL miles???

Thanks!

Although, I have not been targeted for a few years, I have in fact been able to register successful on line, and receive the "thank you your registration is complete and has been accepted",or words to that effect.
However, when I have called to make the transfer, and to verify at that time, that the "bonus' miles will be added to the transfer miles, I have been told that I was not eligible for the bonus (even though I have supposedly successfully registered), and that if I chose to transfer miles, the bonus miles would not be included in the transfer. Ergo, I did not initiate the transfer.
Have not attempted to do it again since then, but would suggest that everyone may want to ask when they make the transfer, rather than assume one will automatically have the bonus miles added to the transfer total.
I can not understand why these events are targeted? What difference does it make, targeted or not. If DL wants to have miles transferred, why should it matter from whence the came? So here I sit firmly on the non-targeted list, and really don't understand why. Can someone explain that to me? Thanks

Delta and Continental and Northwest are all members of the Skyteam alliance, which means you can use skymiles to book rewards on CO and NW. Transfer with the bonus and then book CO rewards through the skymiles rewards desk.

The only problems with this are

(1) if you want to use the miles for the equivalent of "Skychoice" on NW or CO, you can't. You can only get the equivalent of Skysaver awards.

(2) if you are CO elite, you have access to more of their seats equivalent to Skysaver than if you are DL elite trying to get the same awards. So it CAN make a big difference.
