Hertz - Prestige at YOW?

View Full Version : Prestige at YOW?

I'm going to a wedding in early August, and have been tasked with renting a nice car to transport the bride's immediate family to/from the reception venue.

Wanted to rent something like an LR3 or an XC90 (which YUL is showing as a possible choice). I'd even take an S80...or on the non-prestige side a V70 or Azera even.

I definitely do not want to show up in a *TAURUS* w/hertz barcode stickers on it.

Anyone know what the YOW fleet looks like these days?

You can call the location directly and get a BMW 325i...if you only need space for 3 other people

Not sure if you've gotten your answers covered yet, however YOW does not tend to have much in the way of premium, no neverlost either. Though the people are very nice, etc.

One suggestion for your stay is the Park Hyatt downtown, if you have business with Price Waterhouse you can get some amazing rates there.

I've booked a Chrysler 300 or similar for the time being.

I'm considering changing it and trying the upsell strategy that has worked VERY well for me at USA locations in the past. This strategy is where one rents the least expensive class/rate, and asks "what upsell promotions do you have today?"

My earlier Hyundai Accent upsell to Volvo S60 at ALB for additional $10 USD/day is typical of what I've gotten in the past.

The upsells really depend on how greedy the agent is, since I've seen the computer screen where it shows how little or how much they can charge for an upsell. And since they make comission on those, the higher the upsell, the bigger the comission paycheck at the end of the month.

Try hertz.com for your answers.

Use the "Locations, Cars, and More" link on the left and click on vehicle guide. According to this list there are no prestige cars at YOW. Your best bet is a Chrysler 300 or maybe a town car. Try to call the local station for more up to date info.

There are indeed BMWs that are available but not bookable through the website.

I doubt they will upsell you to the BMWs but if you call the location directly, they can quote you the rates. I only saw 3 series there but perhaps they may have 5 series...

The YOW location is not a corporate location unlike YYZ, YVR, etc. From my experiences the staff are nice but they are super stingy and will try to upsell and nickel and dime you to death in a nice way. As for vehicle selection including Prestige... good luck because they don't have a great selection of anything.

I have had the same experience there too, and heard the same thing about them being a franchise.

Last time I went through they had a big Caddy DTS available. I haven't seen the Bimmers yet.

They do not carry Chrysler products in YOW, I made the same booking last week and they offered a Buick Lucerne instead. I opted for the BMW 325i, since I was on a road trip to Mont Tremblant.

In my experience, YOW has really bad cars (like old Taurus'), but really nice people. I'd call the station manager and see if they expect anything nice to be in at that time.
