:) I have now hit the $250,000 mark this year (in only 6 months). I have been a holder for 10++ years. I am looking for Black Card holders who know what to do now.... Do I call/Do they automatically send me the invite/What next??
Any help is appreciated...This is my first day posting or reviewing on this site......Sorry for any repeated questions..
Nice spelling on my part on the title. I have tried to edit it but it will not allow me to change the actual heading. It is locked now, so AMEX will have to change the card name now. LOL.

Why don't you try using the search feature. This topic is discussed to death.

Welcom to FT.
Although I hold a Centurion Card in the UK and not the USA , I would think the best thing to do is give Amec c/s a call.
There is a search facility on FT that may bring up information on this subject.

Amex sent you rain? I'm confused. Is this a new feature for drought-stricken cardholders to make up for the loss of SPG Plat?

Yes I agree. However there should be a spell check on FT. Will help those of us who do not have English for their first lanuage.

you can call the number on the back of the cent card which is 877-877-0987 and what they will do is tranfer you to new centurion accounts and there number is 800-956-9293, so you can also call them up. this is for the US card

Thanks for the help!!! and the number Blackbelt. Called today and was informed they do not send out invites any longer...you need to inquire. They ask several questions, and reviewed my account to verify $250,000+ annually. They put me on hold for about 5 minutes for a final approval of some sort and that was it. They stated card was being sent UPS this week. We shall see!

I called the second number. They were very friendly and to the point. Very upfront and placed me on hold to verify. I did not even get to explain really what I was looking for. They just wanted to add up my charges over the last 12 months. They explained the card and a bit about the benefits, the fee ($2,500) and several questions about my company. Mostly just qualifiers and confirmations. After that, they needed to get a final approval which took about 5 minutes on hold...not sure what they were doing..(short of laughing at me about accepting a $2,500 fee I suppose). Then they said "Congrats" and the card would be shipped and be received in the next 5 days.
Even though many question the fee, I spoke to them in depth about the upgrades on flights and mostly hotels we stay at, and I would have to say (once again I have yet to try), the upgrades and benefits may be worth the fee. I am going into to it with a positive attitude.
I will update as I go. Look forward to the card coming.

Dear gecko,
You gave a great response - "we'll see how it goes."
Here on FT, there is no shortage of people who tell Centurion holders that they're crazy. But while some may have it for the status, most people who spend that kind of money want to get value.
There was NO question that I got the value and more when I had Starwood Platinum elite and was able to get an upgrade and free night at the NY Mandarin Oriental. Last summer alone, we had three wonderful and free (points) Starwood vacations that included wonderful suite upgrades. My Starwood Platinum ends next February and the MO NY is already gone. Will I keep the card? "we'll see how it goes!"
Enjoy!

$200 spa credit instead of free night @ MO NY = :(
Do you still get other benefits at least?
And I'm confused, I thought FS was still a partner, but only RC,Pen,MO,Aman,Orient are listed on M Site.
Oh also gecko, are you getting a Business or Personal CENT?
111gecko
Jul 11, 06, 2:11 pm
They actually asked which one I wanted. I am getting the business. It is attached to my business credit and accounts. As you know, when you use the personal account, it shows up as revolving debt through your credit report. I certainly do not want that amount of activity running thorugh personal credit reports. Business does not report on personal.
Thanks,

All English. Interational Centurion comparison. Basically every country.
If you want a US Plat/CENT comparison, I would recommend just looking at the CENT benefits, since Plat benefits are very well detailed between the guide AMEX sends you, and on the AMEX homepage..
The only thing one can't figure out is how other countries Plat compares to their CENT.

so i didnt want to open a new thread cause really what i am doing is asking for help. i've always wanted a US Platinum vs. US Centurion benefit comparison, going into the very little details, so essentially what i did is i spent the last hour going through the platinum site and converting everything into a word document (see below). now unfortunately for me, the centurion website is password protected and theres no way around it, so I am asking any US Centurion Card member if they would be willing to go through the centurion website and paste the benefits into the word document. I would really appreciate it if someone would help me out. If you are going to help me out or have a question feel free to PM me or leave a post here. Heres my 7 page list.

Also, I noticed that the Best Value Guarantee did not make the list. I checked the AmEx website and noticed that it is being discontinued.
The Best Value Guarantee program will terminate on October 1, 2006 except the Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card which ends November 1, 2006. Any purchases charged to your Card account after the program termination date will not be eligible for the program. Accordingly, the provisions under the heading Best Value Guarantee that accompany your Cardmember Agreement are deleted after the program termination date.

I started the comparison by doing the platinum side, which all I did was pretty much copy and paste the platinum website into the platinum side. Aviators99 was kind enough to do the centurion side. If anyone wants to add more detail or anything else please feel free to, but all I ask is that someone PM me a copy so I can keep a master copy. All data must come from a US AMEX website. If we have missed anything again please feel free to and and send me a copy.
As for your kind hosting offer, Marshking, I'd appreciate if you'd do that, and I am sure a lot of others will.
One of the reasons I did this was that 1) even when searching, I felt that the US centurions benefits were not really out there much. Japanese Centurion is, but not US. I also thought that for platinum members that are elliagable to upgrade but don't really know what centurion entails, this might help them decide. So, on that note thanks to aviators99 for all his help and Marshking for posting.

i got to admit i was expecting more in the insurance benefits. i also thought with the Fine Dining there was more restaurants, not just the fact that it works better. i think they need to add a lot more to justify that 2500 fee. i think the fee should be 1000 still.

Dont know what it is like in the States , but I find in the UK , the Fine Dining thing a bit of a joke. Never been able to get a Table that I could not have got myself.

Same here (germany). I called cent 3-4 times after my personal call didn't work since the place was booked out. But cent service couldn't change anything neither. But they always tell me about some alternatives, at one time even a restaurant which did not accept amex (which they told me before) and was VERY nice.

Anything preventing you from getting the personal Centurion for the prestige and benefits but putting most actual business spend on a card with better rewards?

Slightly on topic...are there differences in the benefits between personal and business? And how would personal be any more prestigious than business? As far as I can tell, most people react the same way when they see a black card.

I didn't mean to imply that the business is less prestigious than the personal Centurion (although, now that you mention it, that would enter my mind actually). My point was that you can get a Centurion only for the prestige and the travel benefits but use another card most of the time.
I'll go back to the Visa/MC forum now :)

Many Centurion holders have indicated that we carry the card for the benefits but use other cards. I routinely run most of my business expenses through my Starwood AMEX, converting to the black card for everyday expenses and when I run up against the Starwood credit limit.

Same in the UK.
I use my Centurion card only a few times a year, but still keep it for the benefits, ( although with the loss of SPG Plat not sure for how much longer).
Everything else on BA AMEX. Would love an SPG Amex in the UK.

Also interesting is the fact that these people that only charged 150K are all people including yourself that have "joined" in this month, and this is contrary to have people has posted in the past. It would be easy enough to find out if there are more of these "posts" I might call AMEX and verify that they requirement is indeed 250K if so...

I've been upgraded from a Green charge card all the way to Platinum without requesting it -- in both the UK and US. The upgrade to Centurion has eluded me for a while.
I've been tracking this thread and decided to call the AmEx US line. I was told that the limit was $250K spend in a single year. However, the Centurion CSR told me that me that in certain cases they put a request in to the Executive offices. Once that request is made, they lose visibility and she couldn't tell me what criteria was used to forward an application to the Executive offices.

I'm new to FT so please don't jump me if they has been covered a million times already.
I have a AMEX biz gold charge card as well as a personal plat rebate and biz plat rebate credit card. I realize there is a big difference between the charge cards and the credit cards from AMEX.
What is the min spending to qualify for the biz plat charge card? I am thinking of upgrading our biz gold charge card to plat but I'm not sure if I even qualify.

To go to plat, all you have to do is pretty much be willing to pay the fee. Call Amex.

Oh memories, back in 2000 I tried to use my Gold charge card that I had had for less than a month at a railway station to buy a ticket only to be told that the card had been rejected as it was cancelled. So had to pay on my VISA. Calling AmEx Gold to find out what was going on thye were like, 'Why are you calling us, you are a Platinum cardholder'. News to me, sure enough in less than one month and little over £1k spend I had gone from Gold to Platinum. AmEx rushed out a Platinum card for me when informed of their mistake but strange none the less, as when I went from Platinum to Centurion, my Platinum account was kept open for a short period until my new Centurion had arrived and had been activated.
