Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Can non-elite traveling companion use perks when with you?

Hi All,

Apologies if this has been addressed before...

Currently elite status with MPC and will be traveling with friend who is not. Can we both use the F/J counter to check-in or will this cause eyebrows to be raised..??
Slightly related - has anyone ever had to say no to an op-up because their traveling companion (family, significant other, boss, colleague, etc.) did not get one as well? If an airline knows two people are traveling together and one is elite while the other is not, does that affect op-up chances?

Just wondering......

Thanks.... :)

If you are on the same reservation together and/or very obviously travelling together then certainly no problem checking in together. (F if you are Diamond, J if you are Gold/Silver).

Yes - I have turned down an op-up at check-in once because I was with my g/f travelling me on an AD ticket and she wasn't offered one. But we were on different PNRs. I do have a feeling that being on the same PNR as a non-status person does reduce your chance of an op-up slightly.

Hi,
have had same issue few times. Usually if you ask nice liek: "My friend is travelling with me, do you mind checking him in as well..." they will do so.
Just be very nice.
If you as the elite are being op-up and the other is not you can tell them, you only wwant to have it if your friend is op-up as well. All that can happen is that each of you travels in the class you initially booked.

thats my 2cts...

no clue on the first one. I have asked if my friend (who isnt a MPC member) and I could board using the F/J/MPC queue and we just went thru.
For the latter, how about me offering to pass the op-up to my parents? It was a chartered flight with full J service. We checked in together, agent op-uped me, i then ask if i get my entire family in (my sister as well o.O!).
Ended up i manage to get 1 more J seat so I just gave it to my parents.
