Waht a nice airline - what a crappy airport.

Just travelled on QR between TXL and HKG and conected in DOH twice. What a Zoo. They urgently need the new facilities. All the effort that the crews make and all the nice service and IFE benefits are simply crashed by this unbelievable small and unorganised airport. Also, the Business Class lounge isn´t really a place to relax, as it is totally overcrowded and lacks of a lot of things (i.e. no TV`s, very limited bathrooms etc.).

Can´t wait for the new First and Business Class Terminal to open...

No, they don´t use BHR or DXB, even thougfh they do operate flights from DOH to these destinations. But their hub is and will be DOH.

The new facilities for business and first class passangers is due to open on September 1st. This is my latest information, provided by several QR flight attendends and also the station manager in Berlin....so let´s hope for it!

DOH is definatley a zoo. It is grossly inadequate, however, they are doing something about it by building a super new airport so patience I guess.

Bizi....QR flies into both cities as part of it's network, however they dont use either as a hub or gateway.

Obviously the OP never experienced the old HKG: Kai Tak airport. The terminal was complete chaos at the best of times. We've been well rewarded with the new airport/terminal there, as well as super transit facilities at SIN and KUL...all redeveloped to provide the same type of connections that these Middle East carriers are gearing up for. So I guess it is now this part of the world's time to make the transition from old to new...3rd world to 1st world terminals. Patience.

i agree DOH airport do need some upgrades.. i was surprised that there is still airport without airbridge. its good that QR arranges dedicated bus for business class passengers and you can certainly enjoy their award-winning inflight services and meals after some waiting.

where do you guys get hold of good prices for Qatar flights? Everytime i search for them i end up with ridiculus high prices, and their website seems to be the most expensive place to search of all.

I agree with you with regards to QR prices, as they don't seem to publish anything reasonable. For me, it depends on where I am looking for flights from because with QR you tend to need to go a local TA. For ex London, I use www.myqatar.co.uk

ex europe they are usually under EUR 2000 to the middle east, around 2K (some a little over) to s.Africa and asia.....

I just booked a FRA-DOH-HKG return in J for € 2.190 incl tax.
This was booked with AMEX in Germany but their website also shows a similar fare.

Don't know how you would define as being expensive or not, but I'm looking at flying to BKK from LON for this Xmas / new years and QR's fares are coming in at about £1,520 (including all taxes) for business, which I think is pretty good. This is using Expedia BTW.

I can really confirm today that the DOHA airport is a real ZOO. My flight to FRA keeps getting delayed further and further and also keeps disappearing from the airport monitors. The guy in the QR First Class lounge just said: "Don't look at the monitors - they are wrong".

He did however confirm that the new First/Business Class terminal will open in the first week of September 2006. I guess that should at least make it more comfortable. QR does however seem to have severe issues in terms of punctuality. The two times I have so far passed through DOH most of the departing flights were severely delayed (without explenation).
