Next week I fly with KLM from HAM to AMS to connect on a UA flight to ORD (flights are booked on seperate tickets).
I don't believe that KLM in HAM will be able to check me in for my UA flight, but will LH in HAM be able to do issue a boarding pass?
Thanks in advance for your help

Most likely not as the ticket starts at different location than point of check in.
From my experience even within LH - one ticket STR - FRA and a different FRA - XXX with both on LH - LH is 9 out 10 times not able to give me a BP ex FRA. On the very few times it has happenend it was with a lot of work and time involved - the reason cited as per above - they can not access a flight in a different location that has no "ticket - connection" to the present location.

This doesn't even work with MUC-FRA-DUS on LH, if both legs are on two different tickets. I learned this just this morning. However, since I had already used phone check-in for both segments, the MUC agent could print the FRA-DUS BP. However, she could not change the FF program. Had to do this in the FRA SEN lounge, where I am now, flyertalking.
Btw, the renovated FRA SEN lounge at A26 is no match for the MUC SEN lounge. OK, the view is nice, but the food is vastly inferior. In MUC, at 5.15 AM, they had freshly baked pretzels and, believe is or not, football shaped sausage packets. @:-) They never run out of ideas. Then again, FRA is interesting these days. Right after deplaning, I ran directly into some African football team. Ghana, I guess. They were waiting for a flight. Not home, I guess, because this was in the Schengen part.
Oh, and like MUC, the FRA SEN lounge here has lockers for carry-on luggage, too. You get a key if you leave your ticket at the desk as a deposit. For eTix users, the lounge warden will simply make a printout of the booking, so they know who you are. Since this is free, it's much better and more convenient than the $$$ luggage storage facility in arrival zone B.
