Next week I will be arriving in JNB on a international flight, and then transferring to a SA domestic flight leaving from the domestic terminal. Will I have to clear security and exit the international terminal and then go to the domestic terminal, or is it possible to move between the international and domestic terminal directly?
Thanks in advance...

Will I have to clear security and exit the international terminal and then go to the domestic terminal. You will have to clear immigrations, claim your checked bags (if any)and then clear customs, go from international to domestic, and then go through security there.

Just did it this morning ... and not for the first time.

If it's a typical morning arrival, it will be freezing cold for your walk between terminals. It's at least 500 metres on a slightly uneven pavement.

When you finally arrive at the domestic terminal, feel free to ignore the signs telling you NOT to take the elevators. It is a mistake to take the poorly designed escalators up ... 2 deaths so far that I know of.

If you're Star Alliance Gold, the South African domestic departures lounge is quite decent and has showers. You have to give up your boarding pass as a deposit for returning the towels after use. There's free internet in the lounge.
