Hilton HHonors - Being Charged More For The Same
Hello,
I have a Net Direct rate booked this Sunday at the Embassy Suites SFO/Burlingame for $129.00. Just did a quick rate check (board with the wife out of town) and the same rate (Net Direct) is $99.00. When I called the Diamond desk to see what was up, the rep told me I had to call Net Direct... well, direct. After giving me their number, she said "I hope it works out, they are very difficult to deal with." Its not a lot of cash, but it seems real strange that the rate would go down and they could not credit my account. Any advice?

You got good information from Hilton. I would say, based on the experience of others, that Net Direct is virtually impossible to deal with.
All rates, including NET DIRECT rates, at most hotels go up and down - it's all to do with supply and demand. The rules are quite clear concerning Net Direct rates. Once paid, they are non-refundable, non-cancellable and non-changeable.

Supply and demand, exactly. It's called yield management and all the travel companies (airlines, hotels, etc.) practice it. You pays yer money and takes yer chances.
The rate could equally well have gone UP (or disappeared entirely). Would you phone and ask them to raise the rate on your reservation in that case? ;)

Yes!! I do it all the time with my airline tickets. I book way in advance, and then call the airline of choice up on the day of departure, and ask if I can pay more for my coach seat!

Thanks for your help. I won't even bother calling Net Direct.... will take my 30 bucks out on the managers reception. :)
