I need a car for about a month and would appreciate if anyone knows a coupon code that could bring down the price. Thank you.

There's a $50 off a monthly rental coupon in this list for AAA http://ww2.aaa.com/coupon/ZEmemberaaa.html That's the biggest coupon I've ever seen for monthly. There was one in the 2005 Entertainment book for $50 as well, but those expire June 30, can't remember if it's in the 2006. AAA discount is usually better anyway.

One thing to keep in mind with monthly rental is any insurance coverage (may be limited to 14 days with some credit cards, may vary with some personal auto insurance policies). If you're on business and covered by a commercial auto policy, this shouldn't matter, but you may want to check if that's a concern. If you take the CDW, this doesn't matter, except that it will cost a mint.

You can break it into one-week segments which could well make the cost even less, but you will have to at least take the car into the Hertz location each week, if not actually switch cars each time. Check with someone at that location to see about arranging for keeping the same car for 4 one-week rentals, if that's what you want to try. Check the pricing of that first, obviously.

Note that taking it in every week and changing cars doesnt allow you to increase the coverage offered by credit cards IME. AMEX once informed me I was not covered as I had continuous coverage for over 30 days. I then had to prove that my weekly rentals (every week for 9 months) were not continuous to not be liable for the damage to the vehicle. It was easy for me to prove as I had boarding passes for my trip home each weekend but if not for that then I would have bourne the repair costs etc.

Good point. I wasn't thinking of that above, but it's a good thing to clarify. I was only suggesting breaking into weeklies for possible pricing reasons. It won't affect any credit-card based insurance coverage, which may still run out in 14-30 days. Also, as I understand it Hertz may not credit extra rentals (towards 5*/PC status) either, unless there's a 24-hour gap between each rental.

Thank you for the info. I will look into this and may try to break the rental into weeks with breaks and qualify for the credit card insurance coverage. I will also see if I can qualify for President Circle (Currently 5*).
