Feels more than a little strange to see that after the title of the forum.

It was also odd to scan down the list of forums when I logged on, instinctively stopping in the "A's" for what was always my first stop on FT, and not find it.

While it makes good sense to roll these forums together going forward, and I supported that decision, now that it's done I'm finding myself just a bit sentimental about it being gone. The America West forum was a pretty quiet, friendly place with a number of regulars who could argue now and then, but were almost always cordial and helpful.

To all of you who contributed to this forum over the years, I sincerely appreciate the help you provided to me. I hope you will continue along in the new forum.

Cheers, all! :)

Just for old times sake. . . remember?

. . . "The Sale" (that nearly put them under)
. . . 747 service to Hawaii and Japan
. . . Flight Fund credits based on $$, rather than miles
. . . No first class, but free cocktails throughout
. . . Chairman's. . . to Platinum. . . and back to Chairman's
. . . R-E-S-P-E-C-T!

And yes, the US mods have been reading both forums pretty diligently since the merger, and will continue to do so :).

Now that was an EVENT, wasn't it? It seemed like all people of the Valley were lined up at Terminal 4 that day!

Glad to see you're a moderator in the new combined forum. ^

My favorites from the FF memory bank:
-- ``Passport to Paradise''
-- 750 base miles per segment

I was only a FF member for 3 years, but in those 3 years I was very satisfied with their service to me.

Sorry to even be posting here, but you brought back some significant and powerful memories. I drove down from Flagstaff to get in on "The Sale" -- spent nearly $10K (which is all I had) and put most of it down on the old flight coupon books you could use to fly the short-hops (FLG - PHX, PHX - TUS, PHX - SAN, etc) -- those books were a substantial savings over the normal cost of the flights, and unrestricted to boot -- "The Sale" made them a virtual steal. "The Sale" kept me and Dr. Flyin4MAG, who was in school in TUS at the time, flying back and forth for years. "The Sale" also got us seats in the nose of the 747 to HI to celebrate our engagment.

I will miss HP and it will always share a special place in my heart. Dr. Flyin4MAG and I discuss being on the DASH-8s to FLG and passing around the basket full of food -- usually when we are sitting in F on UA and waxing nostalgic on how good it used to be.

HP you will never be gone from this family, since you literally brought us together. Thanks for everything.

I just noticed tonight that by the kiosks at the A checkpoint in Phoenix, there's still a bunch of "sign up for FlightFund" brochures.

I know.. it is sad to see alot of this go... I was thinking how the 15K short haul awards should never have left... but could have had location restrictions... Or they should allow short hauls to be 25K no matter (always standard award)... but somehow, we lost a lot of nice differences.. now there is nothing that really makes the program different except that 50K and 75K fliers do not get good bonuses... I mean if u look at 1K at U, the 50K and 100K fliers both get 100% bonuses...

Ok.. never mind.. back to the "new and approved" US Airways :(
