Hilton HHonors - oh man... New HHonors Hotel Reward Categories

Effective June 1, 2006, the HHonors hotel reward category for the hotels listed below will change. Reward reservations made prior to this date will be honored at the hotel's current HHonors reward category. The new reward category will apply for all reward reservations made or revised on or after June 1, 2006.

I had a reservation in place (cash) and just called today to make the final change - change dates and change from cash to points.

meanwhile, my property when from "2" to "3" and so I no longer have the points for my 5 night stay, just 4.

I'm only gold these days. has anyone else been in this situation and been able to work things out so they can get the old redemption level?

I think your odds of that happening are - oh, about -0-. I feel your pain; I tried very hard to think through all my travel plans before the redemption levels increased - and of course, now, am wishing I had put even more reservations in place.

But it was well publicized, both on the Hilton website and here on FT. We kept bumping the thread about the new levels in the 48 hours before they increased to remind everyone to get their awards in place.

Precisely. The thread in question - the one that was bumped repeatedly as the deadline approached - was started on December 27, 2005, and never strayed too far from the first page, IIRC.

Given that HHonors gave us six months' notice on this one, I don't think asking after the fact will do any good.
