I am arriving early morning in Bahrain and departing late night, same day.
Any hotels offering day rates in BAH?
I will have GF lounge access, can I base myself there for the day? Do they shower facilities for arrivals?
Thanks in advance.

Too bad you didn't get a F hotel voucher this time - can you ask for one through your agent? Aside from the GF Holidays hotel deals, there may be offers with hotels promoted through the recent hotel double/triple points promos.

Has anyone tried this hotel? Are similar deals around for the nicer hotels? <a href: http://www.gulfairco.com/offers/stopover.asp Bahrain International Hotel for US$50 /a>
Movenpick? Triple or double point offers for three hotel chains...

The BAH lounge is excellent for a day stay, and you'd probably be able to rest in the F lounge if it isn't too crowded.
Yes, there are shower facilities in the BAH lounge, not far from the entry corridor.
Have you thought about using the Bahrain Airport transit hotel within the building itself? http://www.bahrainairport.com/bia/bia_transhotel.htm
I am in a similar situation to yourself and intend taking a day room for 12 hours @ $36 USD. Will use the GF FC lounge for all my eating, drinking and World Cup football requirements.
Not sure if the hotel is up to much, but its cheap,I have the GF lounge with its free facilities close by,and it saves me the hassle of leaving the airport.
Before using this hotel however I will probably ask at the transfer desk to see if GF will provide me with a free hotel room plus return transport to the city. In AUH they gave me the Meridien plus transfers plus food so its always worth asking.

If ever I have had more than 5-6 hrs at BAH to connect I have always been afforded a hotel voucher at the Movenpick, transit visa, transfers and a meal voucher. Even if my TA hasn't arranged prior, the Ladies at the GF lounge desk have arranged it for me. So good idea to go to GF desk at BAH when u deplane and ask if there r vouchers waiting for you or go straight to lounge and ask if they will arrange for you.
I'm not sure what your status is or your class of travel, however.
The lounge is super, but I have no experience with the airside transit hotel at BAH.
Good Luck :)

I just had to suffer a three hour delay waiting in the GF BAH lounge, that was about 2.5 hours longer than I really wanted to spend there. As nice as it is, there is not actually a great deal of space to sit and relax.

I was at the lounge at the busiest time of day, during the evening and found it quite accomodating.
Separate sections for families; an impressive X Box arcade, choice of Mac or PC work stations. Hot buffet. Fantastic duty free downstairs. Great stop over.
I have a 4 hour layover in BAH on Sunday, March 2. Is it possible (or even worth it) to go off the airport to have a look around?

Are you tarvelling with GF in F or J? Do you have a GF FF card at Silver level or above? If so, The GF BAH lounge is excellent (see above) and one can easily pass 4 pleasent hours there. If not, it is 20/25 minutes or so into downtown in a cab. There are several large malls (the Seef Mall for example) with good shopping and food options. Hope that helps.

Also, if you are in F or J, and you go out, be sure to use the dedicated check in area at the far left end of the airport. (Turn left as you walk in the main door. Do not use the entrance to the ticket counters, with the first set of x-ray machines. Take an imeadiate left.) It can save quite a lot of time if the airport is busy.
