Online Travel Booking and Bidding Agencies - Hotel credited my CC for my PL stay?

Had a stay in Canada a few weeks ago. Everything was great- location and friendly, extremely helpful staff.
At check-in I inquired about getting two doubles. Didn't think to call ahead. Nothing avaiable because of a couple conventions. Not a problem. A roll away worked just fine.
My PL total was $107, paid for a couple months ago. On a different account, the card I presented at check-in, there is a return charge of $110 by Marriott.
I'm not complaining, but I'm stumped as to why they paid me to stay. I checked Marriott's website for some kind of satisfaction guarantee, but didn't see anything. Anyone have any ideas?

Unless a charge for the same amount also shows up on your cc statement it is most likely an audit or accounting error.
The credit wouldn't have anything to do with a customer service guarantee based on the hotel not having two double beds when you arrived. PL rooms are ROH for maximum double occupancy, which means the hotel only has to provide you with a room that sleeps two people in any bed configuration (even just one double bed or two single beds qualifies). Also, the hotel has no knowledge of what you paid PL. The guest folio would only have the rate PL is paying the hotel, and that rate would be suppressed on their system so the guest doesn't see it.

I agree. Even if they had a satisfaction guarantee, your resv is prepaid by Priceline, so the refund would go to the party who paid (Priceline), not to you.
This is just a plain old error. I wouldn't be surprised if it eventually gets discovered (and fixed).

Well, my credit card just cycled and I still have the credit. I'll thank my lucky stars and won't be disappointed if it's reversed.
Here's a question: How easy or difficult would it be for a desk clerk to access my folio, rate paid? I keep thinking the credit might be connected to a particular clerk who seemed to be extraordinarily helpful almost to the point of discomfort (for us). There were a few times we ducked for cover on our way through the lobby. :D

They might catch this if they run an audit. If you want to be honest you can always call the hotel and told them that you were credited some amount back by the hotel and ask what was it for.
If I stay at the same hotel and they make a mistake on my favor I let them know. It creates goodwill.
if you checked out early, you may have received a credit to your card from the deposit that PL sent over... that's the only thing I can think of.
