Qantas Frequent Flyer - Travel Insurance
Someone posted an excellent travel insurance product here about a month ago & I can't find it.
It was a policy for annual cover.
Not sepecific or individual trips.
Wasn't a credit card policy either.
It covered award trips.
Anyone remember?

I use "Travel Insurance Direct".
Here's one thread/discussion from last year: Travel Insurance for award Flights (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=474094&highlight=insurance).
Thanks Serfty
That TID annual policy seems a good product.
Do you use the annual policy for business or holiday?
Have you had to make any claims?
Were the claims processed promptly & without problems?
Just say the words "ANZ GOLD VISA CARD". Just read, remember and follow the T&C and repeat: "ANZ GOLD VISA CARD".

Don't know the thread, but I use AmEx platinum card with insurance included. Seems to be OK. I was sitting in J coming home from LHR (to MEL) recently. The lady next to me had the same card, had booked economy, but had hurt her leg on her vacation. AmEx arranged the upgrade, car service etc etc. She was delighted!

That's what I have always used. however, I may jump ship unless the following gets over-turned.
Having just got back from the USA and noted a (valid) charge of $A3,274.31 and another note under it saying
"Incl conversion fee of $A79.86"
That is around 4%. When did it ever get that high?
And I doubtless got screwed a few % on exchange rate as well.

The exchange fee is not the issue here, the real issue is that you used the ANZ GOLD VISA for an actual purchase after triggering the insurance  . I thought other cards were more useful whilst away (ie the ones that have a useful loyalty program).

It looks like 2.5% not 4%, but it's still gouging!!

And also no ATM fees.

Are their FX rates consistent with those that do charge fees (ie is the lack of a fee covered by a worse rate)?

Theres a little box that auto checks I think when you sign up... It adds insurance anytime that you buy a ticket. Sometimes I think I was charged extra by the travel company but its just the insurance getting tacked on.. great feature I think. Makes it much easier to say no to a agent on the phone.. if you book over the phone that is. I jsut find it easier to book over the phone. I enjoy speaking with people who are more than a days flight away and just asking how the weather is. I think its still monsoon season in India ... Am I correct?

Trust me the exchange rate is the real issue. ;) To me anyway.
My apologies - that spend was on the Qantas Gold visa ... you are right.
I had forgotten all about the $250 spend requirement on the standard VISA. totally forgot. So when checking in a couple weeks back i talked UA into selling us upgrades to the USA. Which they now do for a few $100 at check-in desk.
I used the gold card for $A251(to trigger the insurance) and put the balance on Amex.
