Starwood Preferred Guest - Summer Nights promo
Seems to be targeted, but worth a try:
Between June 1 and August 15 earn 2,000 bonus points for every second stay up to 12,000 points. Points can be earned on existing or new reservations. Register at spg.com/promo.

Isn't that the AU one? I believe in USA its 3K after 3 stays, 6K after 6 stays, and 9K after 9 stays, totalling 18K max. (That's what I'm registered for)

No, I'm here in the USA.

OH, it must be different for SPG Gold.

I was comped gold a few months ago. I don't travel nearly as much as most FT'ers seem to. Maybe it is targeted to people who stay less often, i.e., earn points sooner but less available in total.
We could speculate all day.

That isn't exactly the case.
It seems there are multiple variations of the Summer Nights promo.....that either offer free weekend nights or bonus points based on the number of stays during the promo period.
FWIW, I am also a lowly gold (only 7 stays away from Platinum) and am registered for the 3/6/9 promo offering up to 18K bonus points for 9 stays.
It seems that this promo was simply the "me too" promo for this period while the other variations were more targetted at specific individuals.....possibly regardless of status level.

FWIW i am Plat and was sent the 3/6/9 promo. I have been light on the # of stays at *wood so far in 2006 so I thought it may be a targeted promo.
Hi,
I am registered in the SPG 3/6/9 promo. I will be in Atlanta for 5 nights Aug. 11-16 and wonder if I make multiple reservations if they will count as separate stays toward the summer nights promo?
Thanks

If all of the reservations are at the same hotel for consecutive nights, it will still only count as 1 stay.

Thanks. So I would have to back and forth between the Westin and the Sheraton twice to qualify for 3 stays then?
I was going to stay Fri and Sat and the westin because they had a good weekend rate of $150 and then switch to the Sheraton for the remaining 3 nights, where we have a conference rate of $139. I would hate to have to move to back to the Westin for the final night.
I guess I could stay at the Sheraton on Fri, move to the Westin on Sat and back to the Sheraton for Sun-Wed. That would give me 3 stays then?
I'm not sure the hassle is worth 3K SP though.
Is there a *wood near you where they have a cheap rate? You could get a third night there and get the points. If you are getting a cheap rate at the Westin, the savings from the change would help pay for the third stay and not having the hassle of moving is worth something in and of itself.

I just registered my dad for the "up to 12,000 points" promo. I'm just wondering one thing, and I couldn't find it in the TOS:
Is this promo retro-active? And by that I mean for reservations already done between 6/1 and today not reservations in the system but not completed.
All the TOS says is register by June 13 and stays must occur between June 1 and August 15. To me, that would imply that it is retroactive.
But then again, I'm fairly new to the world of SPG promos and wanted the yeah or neah from the experts.

I registered for a different variation of the summer promo, the stay 4 get a weekend cert (up to a cat 4, bummer with the re-categorization in January) and the TOS says it is retroactive. The way I read your post, it should also be retroactive. Best way to be sure is call SPG.

If by retroactive you mean will any eligible stay made with an arrival date between June 1st and August 15th count for this promotion as long as you beat the June 13th deadline to register, then the answer is "yes".

William,
The T&C says arrival date between June 1 and August 15. So, if I have a stay with an August 15 arrival date, that counts, right?
Thanks.

Yes. But one with an arrival date prior to June 1st would not...even if the stay extended past June 1st.
