Starwood Preferred Guest - Sheraton in Karachi

This is the firtst time I have wandered out of the airline FFP forum into the hotel forum, and what a wealth of info resides herein!
I am spending a week in the above hotel and was dismayed to find that it does not participate in the SPG scheme. It breaks my heart to spend a load of cash on a decent hotel and earn nothing for the stay. I am assuking it is a proper Sheraton, too.
I have the chance to book into the Marriott but it is showing a three star (!?).
Any experiences?
I once stayed in Dar es Salaam and the Sheraton there had just handed back its franchise the week before, so I lost out on £1,500 of spend there.
Thanks in advance

Could anyone give the name and email address for the GM of the Sheraton Karachi? Thanks.

this answer was EASILY available via search.
As was reported in other posts, personal information is not provided by Starwood. Starwood Lurker suggested you either email the concierge at the property or the general email or Corporate Services. This information is available in the sticky's at the top of the page.
Good luck.

This is rather surprising.
The property was not participating to SPG for a long while, but i kept asking when they were going to be part of SPG and they eventually did. I stayed at the property earlier this year and my points and stays were credited normally. Is it a matter of the SPG website not being updated with the current info? I would call the hotel and check if I were you. IMHO, it is now participating in SPG unless they realised it was costing them too much and dropped out as quickly as they became part of it.

This hotel now participates in SPG at Category 3.

As posted in another thread spg.com shows this property as non participating in SPG. Sounds like it was non participating, then participating and now once again non participating.

That would be correct. It no longer participates in SPG as of today, although it did for a brief time after not participating originally.
What tomorrow may bring, no one can say really. ;)
