Thanks! karthik Jun 10, 06, 8:58 am Will the $229 Netgear Skype WiFi phone work with inflight WiFi service? You'd have no way to log in to the service, so no, not directly. You could always hook a laptop up to a wired ethernet jack if available, then use the 802.11 on the laptop to share the connection to your Skype phone via NAT. (Or add a 2nd wireless interface to the laptop and do similar.) You MIGHT be able to get it to work by cloning the Ethernet MAC address of your Skype phone on your laptop, signing up and logging in to Connexion, disconnecting the laptop from the wireless network, and then powering up the Skype phone. Or clone the laptop's MAC address onto the phone if the phone lets you specify a user-defined MAC address. All in all... you'd probably just be happier with a Bluetooth (or wired, but who uses those anymore!?) headset. And please don't be sitting near me when you're talking away on your VOIP connection in mid-air for more than a brief chat or you just might find some MAC address cloning being used as a mute button instead. :p SFO_Runner Jun 10, 06, 9:03 am Will the $229 Netgear Skype WiFi phone work with inflight WiFi service? Thanks! You might was well buy a Nokia E61 if you're going to waste that much coin on a VoIP phone. At least the E61 will provide you a means to login to the Connexion service. |
