I've stayed at what used to be the Park Hyatt San Francisco 20+ times over the past 15 years. The changeover in brands came as a shock to me and though I'm not partial to Hyatt; I do love the hotel [and I know I'm not alone here.] I was in the Financial District this afternoon - with an hour or so to kill - and thought I would wander over to check out what - if any - differences I could see at 333 Battery Street.
The first thing that struck me was the new exterior signage. I can't believe the cheap looking signs attached over the exterior marble are going to be permanent but they do look cheap. On the front of the hotel, you can still see where the old 'Park Hyatt' tree logo used to be. Inside, same as usual but with a tacky 'SPG table' with some brochures and applications. People were buzzing about but the old smart sophiticated feel of this hotel seems to be lost - in some very visible ways.
