If I pack my extra laptop battery in my checked luggage, will it cause CDG security or the TSA to open my luggage?

I'd really like to keep the weight down in my carryon.

but I usually carry it in my backpack. nobody ever asked me to
open the bag. (ofcourse I had to take the laptop out @ US airports
but nothing regarding the batteries.

Pack it anywhere you want. It won't be the first battery they've seen.

Batteries usually won't . But the cord + adapter will. (Personal experience). Thats why I always use the lock with the TSA key entry.

Saved me alot of trouble and $.

Yeah, I use the TSA locks, too.

In the event, the spare battery was checked, but the cord & adapter went in my carryon with the computer in case I got another 5 hour delay & wanted to use it in the airport.

No probs with any of it.
