Budget Travel - Nok Air: anyone flown it?
Anyone flown Nok Air? If so, how was it?
I'm particularly interested in "Nok Air Plus" seats, where you pay 500 baht more to get a pseudo-first-class seat (bigger, food, newspapers, etc.). How do they compare to the regular seats, in terms of size (pitch and width)?
Are you sure you don't mean "Nookie Air"?
Or "New Yawk Air"?

Sorry can't say that I have.. never even heard of that airlines..
I think it's the airline of choice for the AFLAC duck. ;)
Thais seem to like it more than you'd think, if they liked all LCCs equally. OTOH, some Thais also like fried bugs.
I don't think they could be more of a cattle drive than Air Asia. If Air Asia offered an E+-type option that was nothing more than a wider, reserved seat, I think many farangs would pay extra just to get out of the normal hassle.
OTOH, Phuket and Chiang Mai flights are competitive enough to have a glut many times. The rule of thumb with the LCCs is that the passenger experience really starts going downhill as the plane gets two-thirds full or more.

Yeah, I'm looking into it as an alternative to AirAsia. Though, the trips I'm looking at are short ones -- Phuket to Bangkok, and Bangkok to Chiang Mai -- so hopefully even AirAsia won't be too problematic, if I go with them. The prices seem more or less equivalent.
BangkokAir with their discovery pass is the other airline I'm looking at. I'm pretty sure there's reserved seats there. It's equivalent or cheaper than individually booked tickets on some of my legs, like flying back from Siem Reap or international.

Well, I promise you that they exist, because that I saw their planes at BKK at 6:10 this morning as my NW A330 was (sadly) taxiing on its way to take off for my return flight to the states :(
Don't know about inside, but from the outside the MD80s looked freshly painted IIRC.

I fly it all the time between Phuket and Bangkok. It is worth the extra 500 baht for the bigger seat. Snack they serve is coffee/tea/water, a juice, a pastry. If you ask they will give you some noodle thing in a bowl with hot water. If you aren't a fan of the above (which I am not) have your Burger King beforehand in the airport...or bring your own snacks.
I don't know the actual measurements of the seats - but there is a definite difference - the difference between "hey, this is comfortable" and "how come I have bruises on my hips?"

NokAir has bought their planes from TG, and keeped the inter. like it was with TG Y/C ! Some flights are TG codeshare, but there you not get the y+ fare. Also no *aliance miles even you are on TG metal. For me it is worth the + 500THB.

bkk air also have a loyalty system, which doesn't take too long to get a free flight.
i just dont like BKK tiny planes. but service is excellent.
