Hi!

I will be in Central America for about 2 1/2 months starting mid-August (open to traveling to any country in CA, haven't decided for sure where yet).

I'm trying to find a budget yoga retreat where I can spend a week or more. The only ones I seem to be able to find are operated by US companies and are super expensive!

When I was in Thailand last summer, I saw ads for yoga retreats that cost around US $400 for a month of yoga instruction, which included certification to become a yoga instructor. Does anything similar exist in Central America?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

I've traveled many a times to all of the countries of Centroamerica, but don't really recall seeing anything local. While San Salvador and Panama has a fairly strong American presence, only Costa Rica has a gringo infrastructure throughout the whole country (more or less). Of course, you pay for that :(

If you want to learn Spanish ....

Now it's off not to seek yoga, but East European food now that I've had my fill of Thai after a full week in the Land of Smiles.

Well, I just got back from panama, costa rica and nicaragua. Only place i came across yoga place was in costa rica. Would it be something like this? http://www.lunalodge.com/retreats.html I heard the food here is very good too.

Corcovado is worth visiting in its own right.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will keep an eye out for yoga studios/retreats and update if I find any that haven't already been mentioned.

My wife, a serious yogini, says that you should check www.yogajournal.com. They list both US owned and native retreats all over the world. :)
