I am just back from a trip to Paris and stayed at HR Madeleine and CDG.
1. Madeleine
I contacted the hotel in advance regarding the access from CDG to the hotel. I got the e-mail response right away telling me to take RER (Blue line) to Chatelet les Halles, transfer to metro (line 14) to Madeleine, then about 7 min walk to the hotel. The hotel is located in the very convenient area for shopping (e.g., Fauchon, Hediard, etc.) and getting around.
Upon checking-in, I was told that no upgrade is available because one of the the French Open Tennis sponsors booked all available deluxe/superior rooms. They only have 86 (?) rooms or so. They apologized and explained that they would keep looking a better room from my second night for my upgrade. Free continental breakfast (cold cuts, fruit, cereal, pastries, juice/tea/coffee) was offered in the lobby lounge from 6:30 till 10:30am everyday since the hotel does not have a Regency Lounge.
My room was "cozy" with small balcony area and facing to other buildings. I found my Diamond amenity (a half bottle of red wine and a fruit jelly pack from Hediard) + a handwritten greeting letter from the GM on the desk along with a large bottle of Evian. The reception manager (Georges) called me to apologize not upgrading me, due to the room availability, and offered to introduce himself. I went downstairs to meet him in the lobby lounge and a nice glass of champagne was offered. :) He explained to me that this is the world's smallest Hyatt - I liked the boutique atmosphere.
I was upgraded to one of their Deluxe King rooms on the next day. It consists of high ceilings, long windows (which you can actually open), facing to the Boulevard Malesherbes, nice marble bathroom with a separate shower booth and a bathtub, extra sitting area, etc. I liked the interior/furniture a lot since it is modern/comtemporary and simple. Because of the hotel size or something, all the front desk members remembered my name right away, and they addressed everytime I walked by. All the staff members were very friendly, attentive, and professional.
There is no Concierge desk at the hotel - I was explained the front desk folks do both tasks. Georges happened to be around every time I had questions or requests, so he kind of became my concierge during my stay. He is very good - knows all the places! Most places stop serving lunch at 2:30-3:00pm, but I was starving when I came back to the hotel a bit after 3pm. He sent me to a nice wine bar nearby where they serve food pretty much all day.
They extended my check-out time until 4pm.
2. CDG
There is a shuttle bus service between the hotel and Paris (it departs the hotel to Paris at 10am and departs Paris to the hotel at 6pm everyday but Sunday). I took a taxi from HR Madeleine to the shuttle departure point at 20 Avenue de L'Opera. It took me 5 min and cost me 6.9 Euros, and it was well spent because of my luggage and the rain.
I booked 2 room online for myself and my friends. They have no status, but the hotel pre-upgraded to both rooms to RC and Diamond amenity (a half bottle of red wine and fruit jelly pieces) were in each room already. And the large bottle of Evian was there (of course!).
The RC lounge breakfast hours are 6:30-10:00 or 10:30am (I think) on weekdays. They will get you American buffet breakfast at the restaurant downstairs on weekends. The evening hours are 6-9pm (with free drinks/appetizers) and it closes at 10:30pm. Free HSIA is available in the lounge (wired) on the 4th floor - the lounge has two levels (3rd and 4th floor).
The hotel has free airport shuttle service starting 6am (every 15 min or so), and it was on time.
Their fitness facility is located on the opposite side of the hotel entrance. It has an indoor heated swimming pool (downstairs) and the regular gym equipments (upstairs). It opens at 6:30am.
As other FTers mentioned, it's good value!
Overall, I had very good experience at both hotels, and I would definitely go back.
