The United Airlines Mileage PLus Partners page has TACA and Shanghai under the Star Alliance partners section with a "coming soon" marker.

Note that it's not under regional partners or "other" Airline Partners... but *A.

Hmmm... did I miss a press release?

Shanghai Airlines has been invited to join *A. I forget the details though and I haven't heard anything about TACA.

I saw the same page yesterday and i made some thought about this.
After Mexicana left Star, its coverage in Central America is weak.
Moreover, don't forget RG is living a very troubled period due to its financial difficulties ... therefore this could be the next move by Star to struggle this events....

what is your opinion about this matter?

someone at UA obviously reads FT - the page has been amended and TACA is no longer listed under Star Alliance partners - was it a simple mistake , or someone blabbing a bit early ? I guess only time will tell :D

TACA will soon start a codeshare agreement with United. It could be that TACA being listed as a * partner was simply a mistake, or it could be that the codeshare is a first step towards * membership. Here's hoping for the latter ^ .

Where's the mistake   cause TACA and Shanghai are listed under the Airline Partners column, not the Star. or Star Regional column.

that's because someone at UA must read either FT or Anet - it was changed a couple of days ago on UA's site - but believe me , it did say that , quite a few people saw it
