Did not see it mentioned but now when taking b6 from sea, you no longer have to walk miles to get through security then miles to come all the way back to the shuttle. An Improvement IMHO

There HAS to be a market there. Alaska recently announced that they will be discontinuing service from SEA-IAD due to lack of demand. AS still has the lucrative and slot restricted DCA slots to SEA and LAX. IAD just didn't work for AS so I doubt it would work for Jetblue. AS has such strong loyalty in the Northwest that I just don't see B6 making it work. BOS and JFK are much better routes... MFLetou May 25, 06, 8:44 am Yeah that's interesting...most of those flights were showing very little availability over the last few weeks. UA appears to be booked heavily IAD-SEA all summer. They have 3 flights to SEA a day. AS has the one out of DCA. 4 DC area-SEA flights a day doesn't strike me as a saturated market. The LOWEST DC-SEA nonstop price is $576. B6 could come in there, charge $400 and still make money. AS simply matches UA, B6 wouldn't and would see strong bookings. Yeah, but strong bookings doesn't necessarily mean that the route would be profitable. Since B6 is running out of room at JFK (well, at least until their new Terminal opens) so I bet they'll beef up their IAD focus city a little bit more. ;) prhs1989 May 29, 06, 4:09 pm Yeah, but strong bookings doesn't necessarily mean that the route would be profitable. Does anyone know if that is still the target date. formeraa May 29, 06, 9:29 pm IMHO, as a former airline analyst, B6 could make money this summer on the SEA-IAD route. They could serve it twice daily from Memorial Day to Labor Day and make money "hand over fist" this year. UA is charging $650 on many days from SEA-IAD. B6, are you listening? If you have any extra A320's, here's a guaranteed money maker for you! MFLetou May 29, 06, 11:23 pm Exactly. Of course, I'd prefer if they DIDN'T charge that much, so I could actually fly that route! Buster CT1K May 30, 06, 5:50 pm All airlines have very high fares to SEA this summer :( It's too bad, because I was in SEA twice this month, and had wonderful leisure trips. There are some people I'd love to visit again and soon! JetBlueFA May 31, 06, 10:32 am The 7 gate expansion infront of T5 is scheduled to open on the 1st. They installed all the taxiway lighting last night and from what I heard it should be ready to go by the end of the week. prhs1989 May 31, 06, 1:31 pm The 7 gate expansion infront of T5 is scheduled to open on the 1st. They installed all the taxiway lighting last night and from what I heard it should be ready to go by the end of the week. That is good because it was becoming a mess at the terminal. However, when going by it in the plane, it didn't look too appealing. Did you have to take a shuttle to get there? Also, did they add any new baggage carousals for the terminal with upcoming increase in flights? Seat13c Jun 6, 06, 2:17 pm Is the morning flight for JFK to SEA a seasonal thing or is it year round? It seems to have stopped in the end of September- atleast you can't book the morning in early October; just the evening flight is availble. jetBlueNYFL Jun 6, 06, 2:40 pm Is the morning flight for JFK to SEA a seasonal thing or is it year round? I'm pretty sure that the 2x daily JFK-SEA is seasonal - it looks the same way for Bermuda and PHX. A few B6 flight attendants told me that 2x SEA is seasonal since the summer season flights always fill up. That morning flight out and the afternoon flight back would have worked a lot better than the late night/red eye flights. I wonder if they have any plans of making those flights more permiment if they do really well during the summer. Kidkelly Jun 8, 06, 3:38 pm The flights on jetblue always seemed full, however when i was on song there were empty.. WTG B6 |
