Its may not be possible every time, but worth trying. Just call the local hotel and speak to a manager or someone senior. WillTravel May 25, 06, 1:45 am Hotwire allows you to opt for up to 4 rooms. Any more than that and you get a group booking form. If you get 4 rooms on Hotwire, and then try again, there's no way to know if the same hotel will be available. With Priceline, you could bid for 4 rooms at a time, but there's no guarantee the second or third bid will give you the same hotel. Note that in Seattle, any 4* downtown hotel is likely to be within a few blocks of any other 4* hotel. If the choice were being two blocks away and paying $125 instead of $300, my choice would be clear! gleff May 25, 06, 6:23 am Got married in SEA last year, fortunately the W and Sheraton were both participating in Starwood's Cash & Points for the quarter and had availability... so everyone was put up at one of those two hotels, and I drained my points balance a bit ($45 + 2800 points/night at the Sheraton at the time, $60 + 4000 points at the W). Transferred points to mrs. gleff's account as well (Starwood allows transfers between accounts at the same address for no fee) so we each booked our maximum number of awards -- which then was 3 rooms/night/member at a hotel, but is now 9 rooms/night/member. No guarantee that bidding 4 rooms at a time will yield the same hotel, or that after nabbing 4 rooms that there will be availability for the next 4, unfortunately. Just for clarity, if you bid for the four rooms in a single bid, you will get the same hotel. Obviously not if you bid for each room separately. And of course there's no guarantee the second bid with four rooms would give the same results as the first bid with four rooms. Reception? punkis Jun 7, 06, 2:42 pm I am making a wedding shortly in a different city. The hotel has offered us $99 a room as a special wedding rate which we sent out with the invitations. However I have seen several people get that hotel for $40 on BFT. And hotwire right now shows $58 for the same area and star level, probably the same hotel. Should I go back to them and ask for a better rate? I figure mentioning priceline and hotwire to them will be a bad idea because they control the amount of rooms released to these sites. I do plan on telling family members to just book through priceline although I prefer to guarantee them being in the same hotel because I will be providing a family breakfast. Kidkelly Jun 7, 06, 2:48 pm I would call see if they can offer a even better rate. if not then book rooms throught priceline the week before and cancel your reservations.. ajk2n123 Jun 7, 06, 3:43 pm Is the hotel offering any amenities/extras with the special $99 rate? I like priceline but for such an occassion I'd play safe for even a slight chance that service level may go down because it's priceline rate. I think the best way is to let the guests know and let them make the decision. punkis Jun 7, 06, 3:56 pm Is the hotel offering any amenities/extras with the special $99 rate? Just nice to end the wedding and go right up to your room...not to mention having a comfortable place to change before the wedding. traveladdie Jun 7, 06, 4:11 pm When are you getting married? Are you looking for downtown only or would Queen Anne or Pioneer Square work for you? I just helped find rooms for a friends wedding in July. It is hard but not impossible. I have some ideas punkis Jun 29, 06, 4:05 pm I just pricelined and got the hotel where the wedding is for $40. If I go and book another room at the same price what are the odds of getting the same hotel? What if I go lower? |
