I plan to go to Chon Buri (Pattaya) and BKK and watch one show. There are Alangkarn Theatre show or Cabaret Shows inm Pattaya. I have thirteen years old son will go with me. What show is good for us ? We enjoy David C's magic show, Cel Sole De and NYC boardway show ? Thanks.

I have been to the cabaret shows in both Pattaya and Phuket; and I dont see why its inappropriate for even a 5/6 year old. And this is coming from a highly conservative asian :(

It's cool for you to even consider taking your son to a thai cabaret.. This is no ordinary cabaret.. the women are sometimes ladyboys... and so on.... they use the ping pong balls furiously. i've seen this show 2 years ago and even as a man, am not keen to watch it again..

I think y'all may be talking about two different types of cabarets.

Pardon my ignorance, but I have seen the shows Alcazar in Pattaya and Simon Cabaret in Phuket; and its all about dancing and singing (or miming). So what is this "ping pong balls" stuff all about
Alright, I have heard about certain shows in Pattaya which is apparently quite disgusting; but I dont think thats what the OP has in mind.

There are several different kind of shows available in Thailand. Real theatrical productions like Phuket Fantasea in Phuket and Alangkarn in Pattaya are well done, family shows ^ . Next comes the Katoey or ladyboy cabaret shows were transgender or cross dressing men lip sync and dance to popular tunes, some times a bit racy but not really naughty. These would include Calypso and Mambo Cabaret in Bangkok, Alcazar Tiffanies in Pattaya and Simon in Phuket  . Finally there are shows in GoGo bars were the women perform sexually explicit acts that are not really suitable for anyone. :td:
for theatrical productions in Bangkok, don't forget:
***the wonderful traditional Thai "Hun Lakorn Lek" costume and puppet show at the JOE LOUIS THEATER (http://www.joelouis-theater.com/eng/aboutUs.htm) in the Suan Lum Night Bazaar near the "Lumpini" subway station AND
***the new gigantic SIAM NIRAMIT (http://www.siamniramit.com/) located near the "Thailand Cultural Center" subway station

I would echo Trajan's recommendations for Bangkok shows.
In Pattaya the famous Tiffany and Alkazar shows are surely suitable for children in my opinion. These are family suitable tranvestite/transexual shows. In fact your child may not even realize the performers used to be men. They are both 500-600B.
There is also "the very huge "Alankarn" show which would be the best family show. This one I haven't seen yet, but would love to. I think this show is around 1500B.
