I noticed that NZ has a printed wine guide booklet in business class - current edition dated January to June 2006. Funny I hadn't come across it before.
Anyway, looks to be very useful for those who appreciate a tipple but unfamiliar with NZ wine scene (and remember wines onboard NZ are all NZ).
Covers intro, run down of the various regions and main varieties, lists the wines NZ has selected (for business class) with tasting notes, some information on the wineries featured.
Quite a classy booklet and a great idea.

It was featured in the March Koru Review; and I agree a very good idea considering the size of the menu's.

On our recent flights in March (SFO-AKL / AKL-LAX), I would guess that only 1/2 to 1/3 of the wines listed were available. It was indeed an interesting read - I just wish we could have sampled more NZ wines on the plane.
Cheers.

Except the champagne? I distincly remember the bottle and a half of Veuve Clicquot that my wife and I drank on AKL-RAR last year.

Yes except Champagne (not being in the champagne region NZ doesnt have any), and yes not all featured wines loaded on all flights.

Ah yes, I always forget that in the new EU world that all others are just sparkling (I guess this was always true, just more emphasized now). :)
love the mcwilliams desert wine we had on NZ1/2 recently. Aussie stock - admittedly!

New edition for July to December 2006. Most of the wines have changed - only a couple of desert wines and pinot noirs the same.
on our last trip we visited McWilliams in the Hunter Valley. The manager who conducted our tasting said that their best dessert wines went to airlines like NZ. We couldn't buy it there, but we drank it ++ on the plane back home. Yummy wine :-)
Yes, dessert wines also (often) from Ozzie, like the Bortoli.

I haven't seen the de Bortoli on NZ for a long time. Current selection seems to be Church Road, Forrest Estate and Cottage Block (only one of which loaded on any flight).
Don'tk now Cottage Block - where is that from?

Cottage Block Marlborough Noble Reisling 2002. Looks like it is a Corbans brand.
We seem to get the Church Rd all the time in C and PE between SIN and AKL.
