A software update is undergoing field trials on ZK-SUJ over a two week period from the 19 of May. Subject to system performance the decision
regarding a fleet wide release will be made following this trial period.

The key functionality and reliability improvements are:

• Audio Jukebox (MyPlaylist)
• Audio while viewing Airshow
• Airshow as a Video Announcement
• Parental Lock Enhancements
• Revised Game package
- Remove Cave Crunch, Add Sudoku ^ :D
• System Performance & Reliability Enhancements

ZK-NBW, which experienced unacceptable IFE failures in January and a couple of weeks ago, was removed from service earlier this week in an effort to correct the cause of the problems. The known issues were corrected and belief is the cause of the major events has been fixed.

BTW, IFE availability was 98.6% in February and 98.1% in March. Looks like the kinks are nearly all gone. ^

After the problems of my previous flight, the IFE worked reasonably well the last few flights. Although I still find it odd there is such a big pause before it does anything (compared with say SQ's Wisemen 3000 avod system).

It smacks of the system having insufficient processing power; surely this couldn't be the case in a brand new installation which hopefully has a bit of future proofing.

I doubt the system has insufficient power - it has three servers aboard, compared to SQ's two. It may be a consequence of the system running on Windows CE.

You really are a hard lot to please, you know ;)

Is this the same crappy system LH has installed in their new C?

Although I think it is generally a nice system, the performance was extremely poor one of the two times I have used it (777 in Economy) - it would literally take minutes to respond at times, although once you actually manage to get a movie is playing it is fine. The other time (747 in Premium Economy) it was better - night flight so perhaps less people were using it.

Good to hear it is being upgraded. Hopefully the performance will get better.

No - quite different (at least the interface is very different, don't know about the back end).
