It seems like every airlines is now 1/2 the MR points?

Any airlines 1:1?

I haven't used my MR points in years and haven't paid attention.

When did they devalue them?

MR transfers 1:1 for the most part. MR Options transfers 2:1.

Excuse my newbie, but what is the difference?

Thanks

Membership reward = MR
Membership reward Option = MRO

Typically card with MR cost more.
Card with MRO costless or free like blue

For example a MRO green cost 65$ per year, while the MR green cost 110$ per year.

Don't forget that if you have a proper MR card linked to your account, any MRO cards will earn full MR points rather than the half-valued MRO points.

The return value on MRO cards is horrible. Avoid them like the plague. Get an SPG card for $30 instead, or a proper MR card, or a cashback/mileage/whatever card instead.

The other thing to keep in mind is that some awards can be transferred to one airline and used with a partner airline, which is how you can get to * Alliance for instance, through Mexicana.

Thanks for your help. Somehow Amex had switched me to options when I canceled my gold card (I have the free Costco Card) I called and for $40 they switched me back to the Standard MR.

I had no idea and appreciate everyones input.

Is there a thread about that on here? Because that's a 1/2 devaluation if I hadn't known to fix it.

There are at least a dozen threads discussing MR Options.

Isn't the Costco card a cash back card? Are you earning MR points on it as well?

Mexicana is no longer a member of Star Alliance.

It would be very good if you could earn MR on the Costco card but I doubt it....
40 Dollars to earn MR without options seems a bit low too.
Anyone know if you can link the Costco card to another MR card and get both for one transaction.

The my reward options earn 1% for gift cards. You also get free rental car insurance so i wouldn't call MRO horrible depending on if you use rental cars.
