JetBlue TrueBlue - Loads on OAK-JFK-PWM

Okay so I am going to experiement with Jet Blue this summer. I have been a UAL 2P for the past 5 years, but with a new baby and the prices UAL is charging for SFO-PWM this summer for the flights I really want I just cannot justify the extra $500 for my mielage plus.
So that being said is there anyway to check on the loads of your flight on-line? I know how to do this on UAL's website, but so far have not had any luck on Jet Blue's web site. It looks like the only way to check to see how crowded your flight will be is by calling the 800 number. Is this correct?
If that is the case does anyone have any experiece with the OAK-JFK on the 7:00 a.m. Saturday morning flight? We will be travelling with our four month old baby and are hoping that the flight won't be full so we can travel with the car seat. Yes I know I could have purchased a seat, but there goes another $500.00. I also know that as soon as you post anything about a baby on UAL's thread it turns into a baby bashing thread, so I hope that doesn't happen here.
To be honest I am kind of looking foward to my first Jet Blue experience even if I won't have much time to watch Direct TV.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

I'm a former CO OP Elite who started switching to JetBlue about 18 months ago.
I primarily fly JFK-OAK and JFK-BUR. Load factors on JetBlue are high but not overwhelming. Unlike the legacies they do not overbook. This means that the average flight has about 6-10 empty seats.
I started flying JetBlue because of my two kids. As they grew older I discovered that the Direct TV was the only way to keep them from going totally crazy.
If you've been flying coach on any legacy carrier (with the possible exception of UA E+) you will be amazed at the space and comfort of JetBlue (pick a seat in the rear of the cabin, row 14 on behind and you'll have 34" of seat pitch. Because JetBlue seats don't recline very far, you'll have plenty of space the whole flight).
Because it's more affordable, JetBlue has a lot of families and the general vibe is mellower and friendlier than the old-school airlines. Also, the passengers tend to be cut from another mold, less uptight and on edge than your typical elite ff road warrior.

Loads are high (except on my long-lost SMF-IAD route...) but comfy seats and TV make it passable. I don't recall lot's of kids on the JFK routings. The FA's we're terrific with my little ones... Be aware - there's no meal service, but the snacks are plentiful. JetBlue's JFK terminal is a bit of a zoo. They have a couple kids play areas near the gates, but bring some wipes 'cause they were pretty dirty when I was there.
Here's an infant harness I'm thinking about getting for a trip to Hawaii next year: http://www.onestepahead.com/jump.jsp?lGen=detail&itemID=323&itemType=PRODUCT&iProductID=323&change=117. If you try it out - let me know how it works...

Since you can't use it (FAA rules) during taxi, takeoff, landing and whenever the seat belt sign is illuminated during cruise (like bumpy turbulence), I don't see the point in buying/using this device. What would be the point? YMMV. :)

Welcome to jetBlue! I just confirmed with jetBlue that the JFK-PWM leg is on the A320 as well as your transcon being on the A320. I would normally say choose 11 or 12 (exit rows) but since you're with young ones, go for any row from 13-26 for the leg room. If you book A and C or D and F, the middle seats will most likely stay open UNLESS the flight sells out. In that case, just ask the person in the middle seat if they would take the aisle or window (which I'm sure anyone would do over a middle!) Or, you can assign any of those seats and ask at the airport to be moved to row 1 (bulkhead) since you have young children.
Also, make sure your connection time at JFK is atleast 1 hour.
Hope you enjoy your jetBlue experience!

I can say that all JetBlue Flight Attendants have been trained that all lap children must be held during takeoff and landing and not in any child carrying device.

How about post-takeoff and pre-landing?

Thanks jetBlueNYFL. I have seat assignments for 23A and 23C for the OAK-JFK and 16A and 16C for the short hop JFK-PWM. I did my homework with Seatguru and decided it was better to be in the rear of the plan for the 5 hour flight. Also agree with your advice on the window aisle seat. I couldn't imagine someone wanting the siner seat especially when travelling with a baby.
So I am guessing I will just find out what the load will be on flight day. Thanks for the advice on row 1.
I am sure we will enjoy jetBlue.

Post-takeoff and pre-landing are fine. The child can be in the harness restraint. Once the flight attendants come through the cabin, looking for seatbelts, seatbacks, and tray tables, the child must come out of the harness and just sit on your lap.

Well it actually isn't until Saturday June 24th on flight 94. So I am guessing checking the loads now might be a little premature. My thinking was that the first flight out on a Saturday morning might not be too bad. I also figured that the following weekend would be the crazy weekend with July 4th being the next week. We will see if my theory is correct next month.
Thank you for your assistance.

Yeah that is still a month away. The program that I know how to use doesn't have any of the flight loads loaded into it yet. I will keep my eye on it and post when the customers loads are uploaded.

Thanks JetBlueFA I am counting the days already .....

Hi JetBlueFA. Any chance you could look up the loads for FLL-OAK on 6/21 and OAK-FLL on 6/22 (the nonstops). I am thinking about flying with you all for this trip but a full redeye would be my worst nightmare.
Sure wish your website would let us look at seats before we buy the ticket!

With JetBlue (and most other airlines this summer) flying an average of over 80% full, it's simply a reality that most planes are full or near full. A less than full load 2 weeks out doesn't mean the plane won't fill up between now and when you fly. It's generally pretty unlikely you'll get an empty seat next to you on most routes, most flights.
However, I totally understand wanting to see a seatmap before you book. Whether or not the plane is ultimately full, it's nice to know whether you'll get the seat of your choice, or be stuck in a middle seat somewhere.

A good guide for flight loads is that when the ticket price reaches its maximum for a route (say $299 for a transcon), there are typically only 9 or fewer seats left on the plane
