I have a United Red Carpet Club card, does this allow access to AIR NZ's lounges in LA and Melbourne if travelling on an Air NZ Ticket ?

I am correct in saying that you just need to present your AIR NZ boarding pass and red carpet club lounge card ?

Your RCC membership is not the same as STARGold, so does not entitle you access to the same lounge "system". RCC does have reciprocal lounge access arrangements with AC and LH and US, but these require you to be flying UA or that carrier. You should check with RCC to see which other airlines are included in this reciprocal arrangement. I don't believe NZ is one of those carriers. And yes, you'd need to show a NZ same day departing boarding pass to enter the lounge.

If you are MP PremierEx or 1K, then you'd also be STARGold, and thus would be granted access to NZ lounges when flying NZ or any other same day departing STAR carrier. (Though given security issues, you would only be able to access the NZ lounge if you were flying from the same terminal as the lounge is located, on a STAR carrier.)

According to my copy of the Star Alliance Reference Guide, RCC membership enables access to NZ Koru Lounges (ie domestic) when flying same day *A. Lounges in LAX at MEL are NZ International Lounges - to get access to those you'd need *Gold status, or be flying same day *A business or first class.

The other way to access, which I neglected to mention, is as a guest of someone who can bring in guests - ie a *Gold pax also travelling *A same day (not necessarily same flight but they do need to have access to the relevant part of the airport and enter the lounge at the same time as their guest).

What are the dates & times of your flights? Someone may be able to help you.

Will be one of many UA flyers doing a DEQM run to MEL from SFO, Well not certain about many, as most are only going to SYD, that being said, the layover in syd is an hour and a half, the layover in MEL is almost 2 hrs, so the opp for showers would be better in MEL, the rcc has no showers, the NZ lounge from the website says they have showers, can anyone give a little direction as to if this is correct and We can use the facilities, as we are 1k. Is the lounge in the same terminal as we are arriving on UA metal? The UA websited shows the rcc on level one satillite area.

Thanks

yes it has showers and yes you have access as UA 1K flying from MEL on UA, and yes international is all one terminal. The lounges are at the end of the pier, UA & SQ are down one level from the concourse and NZ is down 2 levels (on the ground floor).
