Was browsing the Qantas award booking site, looking at availability from Syd to Sin, and noticed that for April 2007, the BA 15, and BA 16 flights list the aircraft as 777 instead of 747-400.
Does anyone know why?

Seems a BA member of staff is now adamant that it will be a 747 and not a 777:

Is there any benefit in a 777? I flew a BA 777 a couple of weeks ago from Chennai to LHR - all nice enough, but couldn't see any plus or minus compared to a 747-400. Maybe the headroom is a bit better on the former, but nothing else stands out........

They have the same classes of travel and the same seats; the 747 is a smidgen quicker than a 777 but other than that there's not much difference. Why there has been such sulkiness over it, I cannot understand

If the seats are the same then the aisles will be wider, less people bumping you. 777 have more head room and will have bigger overhead cabinets, they are also slightly slower.

The seats are the same, but the number of seats across in economy is less. On the 744, there are 10 abreast compared to 9 in the 777
For those in Y, methunks that the 777 is beneficial since there are only 33 1/3% middle seats compared to 40% middle seats on the 744

A 777 is no better in this department if, like me, you like a window seat.
But I do like the 777 for the cabin cross-section, whose ceiling is loftier and feels nicer than the 747. (I haven't yet been on a 744ER to see what that looks like in real life, though.) The PA system is generally much better, too.
IMO, the 777 is also a bit quieter, at least down the back - although I know that some premium pax complain that it's noisier than the 744.
