As I was attempting to board LH 176 yesterday (FRA-TXL), I didn't see my US DM# on the BP print out, even though I used it on LH's website when making the res. I tried to have a GA enter it in, but said his system wouldn't take it. It said it was expired. How could it have been when I just used it on US 782? I guess I have to save the BP to have the 500 miles credited, correct?
P.S. Zones don't seem to mean anything in FRA on LH. As soon as boarding was announced, boom - everyone ran to the gate.

Were you trying to use the alphanumeric US number or an old numeric one?

I am a relatively new member as of 2002. So, my number should be good. It is like this: 1RXXXX4.

I don't understand in that case, may have been a temporary difficulty. If you experience it again you may have to call US; even then I am not sure what they will be able to do.

I had the same exact experience a few weeks ago. No "USP" printed on the BP and had missing milage on 1 of the segments. On the return in MUC I had the GA verify my DM was in the system and it was not. Again, I used the LH website to enter it originally. She re-entered it and reprinted our BP and "USP" appeared on them.
Then, as you described, the mad dash to the airplane with no zones or even an announcement of boarding began!

Same exact thing happened to two of our people 3 weeks ago in FRA.

Has this happened on US-stock tickets, or is it only on LH stock that this phenomenon occurs? My LH travel has always been booked as US, and I haven't seen this. But I have seen 9 hours in a middle seat with no empower on the 343's thanks to bumbling at US.

It could have to do with the fare code booked.
Although I've had it happen to me where on the outbound on LH my US number was there but on the return it disappeared. Folks in FRA are less than helpful when it comes to this stuff so I just resovled it with US when I returned.
Plus, I've found that US status means nothing to LH. I've joked before that I think it actually downgrades you to middle seats in the back of coach.
There's also a booking compatability problem with singaporeair.com where you can select entering your US mileage number but when you enter it you get an error "not a valid frequent flier number." The folks at SQ are aware of the issue and will manually insert your US number in immediately after booking. At least they're nice and helpful about it.
And, finally, it's a well documented cultural phenomen that Germans are allergic to standing in lines. The World Cup ques should be intersting...

LH may not be reconizing the "Extension" of DM status and is showing you as expired

What sort of 'status benefits' should we 'expect' from LH?

This seems to be an issue with LH, as last year I flew LH from ATL-FRA-KWI and checked in at the counter and tried to have my US DM number entered and the Lufthansa system would not accept it, which the check-in agent said was common. She then went into the office behind the counter and entered it on another terminal and all was fine, and my miles were credited to my account within three days...

Right! That was the only reason I could think off. Although I did hear some rumblings about fare class to earn miles. But I think that is miles in LH's programs.

Flew from Frankfurt to Athens yesterday. The ticket agent put my number in again (I had put it in the computer when I reserved the flight.) The CP line recommended that I save the boarding passes and receipts for the flights as they have been having problems with crediting LH flights to dividend miles.
Not sure what's going on . . but US is evidently aware of the problem.

As far as I know, these are the LH fare classes with NO accrual in US DM program:
T, L, E, I, N, O, R, X

The fare basis on the LH flight was "W" and this flight, taken 5/10, has already posted to my account. There are no bonus miles awarded, but the miles that posted are elite qualifying miles.
The other poster may be right about applicable fare codes.

Well, I will submit my boarding passes anyway and see what happens, since both my fare classes are listed above w/ no mileage earning opportunity. L on the FRA-TXL leg and E on the TXL-FRA segment.

Photog,
I can guarantee you that you will not get a single mile for this flights as US does not credit you any miles for this "cheap" LH fare classes. Sorry but I have experienced it myself numerous times. If you have a higher fare class the credit will be on there in 2-4 days but on the lower classes no luck.

I took LH on the premise I would earn a couple of segments/miles. Oh well. It pays to read. Thanks for the advice.
