Well, the LHR->HKG route cannot happen fast enough. I've just had one of the worst check in experiences ever, not particularly helped by the NZ staff:
i) The check in agent arbitarily trampled over my pre assigned aisle seat, put me in 8A and then put me in 52C when I complained. What can I say? My sincere apologies for being one of the sensible people who calls in and gets his seat re-assigned.
ii) You have to queue to queue here. You actually have to join a queue in order to get to the security queue.
iii) Being told I have one bag too many (yes, but that's the duty free I bought in Fiji. Once I get on the plane, I'll have the same amount of hand luggage as just about everyone else; and I'll not have a HUGE roll-a-board).
iv) Security agents who bark orders at you (yes, I know I have to take my shoes off but would you mind if I finish taking my laptop out of the bag first)?
All in all, this airport royally sucks. I've had better check in experiences at BOM and NBO both of which suck on a bad day.
Still, at least the security line with the angry, barking security staff wasn't long today and the NZ lounge here is very nice.
